Blackpool have just announced the signing of former Southampton defender Jermaine Wright on a one year contract with an option for a further year.

32 year old Wright was surprisingly released by the Saints at the end of the 2007-08 season, seen by many as a cost cutting exercise by the club who recently announced that they will be closing three of the four corners of the stadium this coming season to save money.

Wright who can play at full back or in centre midfield is the cousin of former Arsenal player Ian Wright.

In my opinion a good signing given he can play in midfield or defence. He is due to feature at Fleetwood tomorrow.
