I don't suppose anyone got pictures of Blanco head-butting the DCU staffer after he was sent off tonight? Happened right in front of me. After Blanco hesitated by the bench the staffer went over to encourage him to leave the area. Blanco got in his face and after a few words were exchanged Blanco head-butted him right between the eyes.

After Blanco headed to the dressing room, the staffer chatted with a police officer by the side of the field and after a couple of minutes both of the headed after Blanco. I hope the wanker gets arrested and charged with assault.

I must have been sitting in your section because I saw the whole thing as well. Blanco had just finished spitting in the 4th officials face when the staffer intervened to separate him from the 4th official. The guy is a disgrace. Much of the melee was recorded as I saw another DCU staffer right on the sideline, camera in tow.

Unfortunately it will just be for the Open Cup. I believe Luis Hernandez punched someone and got a five game ban - but it doesn't carry over to MLS.

I however would like Mr. Blanco to spend some time in Montgomery counties finest cell.

I was in the section right behind the Chicago bench and saw him head butt the guy who was trying to get him to leave the field. He had a DC United emblem on his shirt which may have confused Blanco, but his behavior is inexcusable. Sucio! as my son yelled out. I saw the policeman walk down to the hill on the end of the field with the DC United guy and Blanco was standing there watching the game. Not sure what happened up there but Blanco eventually disappeared. If the DC United guy wanted to press charges he probably could manage to get an assault charge. The head butt wasn't a full blown Glasgow kiss. But he put his head into the DC United guy and did a shove into his face that would have triggered a red card for sure if it had happened on the field. Not sure what the USSF can do about it, but if anybody from the Federation was watching, Blanco shouldn't be able to play in an Open Cup game for a long, long time. But since they lost, the won't be!

So it was not Zidanesque ...

Actually, the Federation has power to suspend him from all USSF activities if they see fit and have the balls.

It all depends on if there is video of it. If it is a case of he said she said, I don't know how severe they can punish him. And if the DCU staffer presses charges, that too could play an issue.

The Federation has a match delegate who sits in the press box and puts together a match report. If he saw it, he has to report it. Anything that the referee, AR's and/or fourth official witnessed should be reported as well. Then there are statements from players, coaches and staffers that were on the pitch and witnessed what happened. All of that information is available to the USSF. It all depends how far they want to take it. Amateur players are punished more with less evidence available.

Look, this is par for the course for Blanco. Americans, strangely, treat him too well. Like Oswaldo (Dirty) Sanchez said," they like him because they can't understand what he is saying."

So, in an email from a reliable source that I just received, this is the basic story re: the headbutt:

As others of described, Blanco got in the face of the DCU staffer and head-butted him square in the face. This infuriated a senior executive who immediately notified police and asked to have Blanco restrained. Blanco shoved the officers and tried to slap one of them in the face. They didn't appear to end up cuffing him, but as they walked him to the locker room and around the corner he apparently got very physical again and it took between 5 and 10 minutes to be restrained and then the police literally locked Quasimodo in the locker room.

I saw it all the way across the field. This douchebag is the biggest embarrasment to the game, his uniform, the league and anyone associated with him. How MLS tolerates this crap is way beyond me.

With no disrespect intended to the thread-starter, but I'll preface this with a "if this is true."

But, if this is true, what a frikkin' douchebag! I can understand being in the heat of the moment and mad you lost and all that, but dude, there are just some things you don't do and taking the loss out on administrative staff from the other team is just a huge dick move.

Again, if this is true, I hope charges get pressed. Let Blanco see that the cops here are a little more on top of things than the refs here.

Source wasn't sure. I guess it (an arrest) could have happened inside.

Does this mean we won't be reading any more stories about what a great signing for MLS Blanco has been?;)

For the sake of the intern or whoever it is that's covering for Goff, I hope someone from the team let him know about it because he's gonna feel like crap if he gets home and logs on to BS and finds out about this happening.

In all seriousness, I suspect we'll be seeing something about this on the Post's website pretty soon.

I would hope that one of the league's marquee players trying to poke someone's eye, head-butting a DC United employee, and then attempting to repeatedly assault two police officers while being escorted off of the field would be a major story in the paper tomorrow.

Think of it this way, can you imagine if Clinton Portis did something like this? It would be national sports news for days.

    I don't know
    Club:

from Tenonrio's match report regarding the red cards

"He came up and swung as hard as he could and tried to hit the ball and hit Clyde in the stomach," Burch said. "He thinks he can do whatever he wants. I went over and I pushed him. I didn't hit him, I didn't go after him, I just pushed him down. He's not going to do that to my teammate. He stood up and tried to poke Clyde in the eye and cut his eye open.
"I don't like him, I don't think he's a good person. He's a great player but when he's out there he's doing stuff that you shouldn't be able to get away with."

    Good for Burch, channeling Olsen.

I hope he gets charged with assault and sued for a few million bucks, and the staffer then gives a million of it to Will Chang for the stadium. :D I was actually up all night thinking of ways to piss of Blanco enough for him to come to the stands and hit me so I could do this, but hey, this might work out in our favor anyway!

PS- He'll probably go home and kill his wife now.
