Mathis vs Wiz 9/6/03 Performance Breakdown
http://www.geocities.com/castmind/mathiswiz.html
As it happens, I decided to track Mathis yesterday, and he has a Man Of The Match night. I have included video clips of his two goals as well.
Interesting too that someone started a thread re: the 1st 15 minutes. Look at how there is a steady rise in his touches in the first half

I have a bit more web space, so if I have time later in the week, I will break the the tape even more to show all of his chances.
As others have posted, when you warch a match with this type of eye, the game opens up more and more, with little bits revealing themselves.

Another thing looking at the match, is how Mathis' game has evolved and how it might relate to how Arena uses him.
In the match he touched the ball 25 time-17 passes, 7 shots, and one lost dribble. Of his 7 shots, none of them came off him taking on a defender, beating him, and attacking the goal with a burst.
