Post Can Roque Santa Cruz earn a starting place?

http://www.planetfootball.com/articl...+of+confidence

If he continues to play like he did against Neunkirchen, I wouldn't doubt it. But who would Hitzfeld drop: Pizarro or Maakay? Maakay better score soon, or he might be dropped.

They're not going to bench someone they just spent 20 million euros on, at least not for a while.

That being said, Pizarro and Makaay are the front runners. But Santa Cruz will get his starts as well. Hitzfeld does like to rotate, particularily with a busy BL, CL and German Cup schedule.

The real question is whether he'll stay healthy long enough to earn a spot in the lineup. I think that when he's healthy, he's a better player than Pizarro.

Right now Pizarro is red hot and is scoring like a mad man. He has really lifted his game another notch or two. Last year, I would have put Santa Cruz and Pizarro close to the same level.

Hopefully, Rocky will have a good run of luck with injuries. I'd hate to see him go the way of Zickler.

And we should not worry about Makaay. He is a proven scorer and he will get goals. He is still adjusting to his new teammates, new system, and new league (the Bundesliga plays a very different style than La Liga).
