Default Italy's biggest loss in 51 years...

Italy has suffered it's worst loss in 51 years...
We have to go back in History to May 12 1957 when Italy lost by a 5 goal margin against Yugoslavia...
Bearing in mind we also suffered a 4-1 defeat in the WC Final against Brasil, but that was a WC Final and we scored a goal, a 3-0 loss is worse than 4-1...
Just for the record...

Not true, we lost to Sweden 3-0 in a qualifier about 30 years ago... someone posted the exact date elsewhere

There was a tournament in 1957?

Dr. Gero International Cup. since that game Italy never lost by a margin over 3 goals...

True but that game was a EURO Qualifier and not a tournament so it does not rank as important as this loss.

In any case including all Italy International games (friendlies included) you'd have to go back 51 years to find a bigger margin of defeat i.e. by more than 3 goals...

Listen, I know the loss was dreadful and an embarassing showing for Italy but maybe we can look at this "biggest loss in 51 years" on a positive note for the Italian National Team history. Going a half of century without losing by a 3-0 margain is actually a pretty good feat; it just sucks the streak had to end now, but you gotta think it must end some time.

Speculating, but I bet you most other teams have not had such a streak.
