Netherlands Vs. Italy Part II
Continuing on...
As I said before, if someone can provide an example of another goal in world football where a defender, lying motionless on the ground 2.5 metres over the dead ball line, is deemed to be playing someone onside I'd like to see it.
Genuine request because I've been playing and watching the game for over 40 years and I've never seen that.

Re: Netherlands Vs. Italy Part II
Who cares if its happened before. Who cares if its "fair". By the letter of the law, it was a legit goal.

What part of the Laws of the Game do you not understand?
Yea, it was the first time I have ever seen it too, but that doesn't change the Laws.

Either way the Dutch played far superior football than the Italians did today. Even when they were up 3 goals they were still attacking. The Italian defense was a disaster.

Forza Azzurri
Sorry -- had to be said. Great match by the dutch, and fully agree on Gio as MOTM.
Here's to France continuing to stink up the joint. Italy may have lost 3-0, but I still say they looked better than les bleus.

Doesn't have to have happened before. That's the rule which probably will be refined after Euro 2008. But at this moment, I don't care as that was the first match that I've enjoyed of the tourney.

Re: Netherlands Vs. Italy Part II
THANK YOU HOLLAND!!! You showed the world how to play without resorting to antifootball. you never stopped attacking, even at 0-3. Thank you Holland. I know defensive football wins titles but the way you played today wins love.
Italy = antifootball = fear and respect but never love.
Holland = Total football = love from the football community.
