Kazim-Richards was one the better players on the Turkish team. At times he was very isolated, and didn't always have an outlet, but we was very composed and comfortable on the ball, and hardly gave it up. He gave Paulo a bit of trouble on occassions and Carvs was forced to double team him. He's a winner for me.

Also, add Plasil to the same list. Incredibly skillfull player who had a few moments to show his technique. He's like Hleb with more strength.

Fully agree with Cervet (Turkey). Played very well, strong in the middle and moved outside smoothly. Also agree that Ferriera sucked, but then, he's been unimpressive for years...

Losers
Alexander Frei(because he is out and failed to showcase his talents)Jan
Definetly not a winner due to missing out on the rest of the tourney through injury but during the 42 minutes he was on he DID show how talented he is and the Swiss team were very, very dangerous with him leading them. Would disagree on "failed to showcase his talents."

He played very well. Indeed, he was perhaps the MOTM until his injury.

Winners
Austria: they can still get out of this group. Althrough thet chance is very slim, Poland and Germany should take notice.

Losers
Croatia: I am concerned about their match fitness. I doubt that they can handle the Germans & the Poles. History showed that the winner of a match might not qualify ahead of the losing team.

Their main problem is up front. Their two starters today worked hard, but aren't goalscorers and don't seem to consistantly take up the best positions, meaning that any good work from their midfield (which I think is very well balanced and their strong point) is generally wasted. The substitute striker (Budan I think) was terrible. I also doubt whether their defence is good enough against top quality opposition or pace.

I don't watch any Bundesliga, and I've read about the problems Podolski has had keeping his first team place, but at the international level, he is simply the most consistent scorer in the world the past 2-3 years. Simple tap-in on a strong supporting run (like the one Gomez missed) and cannon on the rebound. While the Poles played hard and brightly today, Podolski was the difference.

Podolski's problem keeping a 1st team spot at Bayern is that he compete's against Luca Toni and Klose.

Croatia's players have superb technical ability but lack organization defensively and a forward offensively.

What's up with Poland's high line? They played great team defense otherwise, but severely lacked a good offensive transition.
