We're already into June (where did the time go?) and it's time to pick the May Man of the Month. In May the Wizards went 0-2-1(W-L-D), losing in Columbus 2-1, drawing New York 1-1, and losing in LA 3-1. Not much in the stat category for this month. Here are the 3 players that I think deserve consideration, feel free to add any others with information as to why they should be considered. Claudio Lopez - 2 goals, although one was a PK, and played every minute of all 3 games in May. Jimmy Conrad - 1 goal, but the defense allowed 6 goals in the three games, and required Hartman coming up big in NY. Like Lopez, played all 270 minutes. Kevin Hartman - Recorded 16 saves in those 3 games, but like Conrad is hurt by the 2.00 GAA in May. Played every minute as well. As for me, my vote goes to Lopez, while he doesn't have great stats this month (no one does for KC), he's been our best player the entire month and should have been rewarded more stat wise if other players had been in support. Sure Hartman played well at times, but giving up 6 goals in those 3 games I think takes him and Jimmy out of the running. So Lopez is it for me.
Actually the FO will dictate who presents. The leadership group will, as always, bend over and carry out their wishes. Oh, and Claudio is an excellent choice for MOTM.
can we not do this in this forum please...its getting ol. what happened to APRIL MOTM scarf...who got it and/or did they get it?
If I remember correctly, the consensus was Hartman. I assume that both April and May will get presented at the next home game.
Since there was no home game in May, it hasn't been presented yet, it'll presented on the 14th like May's will. The thread on here about the March/April Man of the Month seemed to have a consensus of Hartman, so I'd assume he'd get it.
To echo the previous two posts, since you can never read it enough: based on the comments in the April MOTM thread Kevin Hartman will be presented with the April MOTM. I will be coordinating with the FO as to the timing for scarf presentation, but it will most likely be similar to presentations in past seasons. The plan right now is for April and May scarves to be presented at the 6/14 match.
Although the meager stats might point to Lopez... I wonder how he would personally feel to be awarded our supporters recognition that represents a dismal month? A backhanded compliment? Just sayin'.
Hopefully he will see that we realize and appreciate that he gave the most effort even during a dismal month for the team as a whole.
It would be worse to withhold the award. After all we are supposed to be "supporters". On that subject I have to also say that we need to back off on the in-game insults to Morsink. Let's have a little class - heckle the opposition, not the guys wearing your colors.
Totally agree. During the game we need to hold back on the personal attacks on Morsink and support all 11 out there.
Lopez has earned my man crush for May and I also second the idea of backing off the players while on the pitch; we have 11 opposing players, their coach and the refs to give hell to so it's not like we can't target anyone else. In these forums on the other hand... .
I will go with Lopez as well. How did or what was the stats for Jewsbury? I know he didnt score but is that all the deciding factor? Just curious.
No real interesting stats that I've found, he had no goals or assists, he played all 270 minutes of the 3 games. That's not all that it's decided on, I just tried to think of 3 guys that stood out at times during the month and came up with those 3. It's just easier in writing to convey how a player did that month with stats. Really I was going with Lopez from the beginning, I just tried to find two other guys to put up there with some stat info. You're more then welcome to make your case for Jack if you think he deserves it.
No no...I will agree with you on this. I was just wondering how it was decided. I would make a case for Jack over Hartman but this month i do believe it goes to Lopez. One other question...and this may have been answered already, but who is presenting the MOTM?
Robert mentioned earlier in this thread that the leadership was deciding who would present. So my guess is it hasn't been decided yet.
