I was looking at the updated roster thread and started thinking about the preseason. Of course, not expecting the results thus far, many did not like the moves made in the off season which prompts the question: Do you miss...?

    1. Ned Grabavoy - No
    2. Kei Kamara - No
    3. Ben Hunter - Who?
    4. Andy Herron - No
    5. Marcos Gonzalez - Good player, but don't miss him.
    6. Brandon Moss - I feel bad that injuries never allowed him the chance.
    7. Andrei Pacheco - Who?
    8. Rusty Pierce - I appreciate Rusty's determination, but no.
    9. Jacob Thomas - Isn't he still on the DL?:)
    10. Bill Gaudette - I miss his fiery personality, but no.
    11. Tim Ward - No.
    12. Ricardo Virtuoso - No. But I'd like to know if he is playing anywhere.
    13. Leonard Griffin - No. Maybe the FC Seattle Sounders FC Football Club (I know, its a joke) will pick him up.

I think that Marcos is the only player in that list that I'd like to have back.

yea i liked Marcos! Ricardo is back in Brazil but he is suppose to go to Germany this week for about two weeks and train with a team there! I miss him because he always gave Heaps a lot of crap! I think it was last season he took out Heaps and just walked away after the foul and he wasn't carded.

I agree. However, I really wish we could have seen what a *healthy* Jacob Thomas could have done. He might have been a great guy to bring in for the last 15 minutes of a game, as bringing in speed late never hurts against tired legs.

Yep, I agree that Marcos was the best of that crowd, and he really is a good player. He went to a good club, and I am pleased for him.

However... we're doing fine without him, and I wonder if his departure forced changes that Sigi wanted, or simply allowed Sigi to make changes that he wanted. Would he really get a spot in the current scheme of things?

Actually, elephants are pretty light on their feet. It's the shoulder to shoulder charge you want to avoid.:D

Since you are from Indy, did you ever see the demonstrations over at the zoo that they did with some of the Indiana Blast players and their elephants?? They were so-so on PK's but were great as goalies....;) I have pix somewhere, but unfortunately not scanned in yet.

Nope, didn't move here until 2003, and the blast didn't survive much past that time, IIRC.

Ward would have been very helpful with Padula out.

I miss Marcos and Grabavoy. Virtuoso sort of, just never saw enough of him to really care.

Of course, I am still hung up on losing Freddy Garcia and John DeBrito, so what the hell do I know.

I'd take Ezra or Miglioranzi over Ward. And frankly, Junge looked as good as (if not better than) Ward against RSL on Tuesday.

Excuse me... what are you doing wasting time posting in this thread. There are other, more important, things on could be spending his time on right now, if one was so inclined.

Yeah, I miss Ned but he doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot in SJ. Thing is if/when Guille leaves after this season we are back to our age old problem of needing someone in the middle to run the show. Maybe Ekpo? Maybe Martino will be done with his Wall Street internship by then...I crack myself up.

I liked Virtuoso as well but he seemed to only have a couple of moves and speed. Once defenses figured that out it was all over for him. But he was good at blasting down the wing. But again we don't need that right now and maybe not for awhile depending on how long Robbie stays. He, unfortunately became expendable.

Marco I think needed to go back home. After the incident out in LA it seemed he sort of lost his taste for America. He landed well and I also wish the guy all the luck in the world.

Surprising that over the years we have given up few players that really had an impact somewhere else. I don't know whether that says our coaches have a good eye for who can be dumped or whether it is an indictment of how bad we have been at accessing talent up until recently.

Given the results of the past three years, lean towards bad.
