Default Charlton-Bolton 30 Aug [r]

This is a big game for Charlton. They have an oppourtunity to win the first two away matches of the season. A win would also help forget the Man City match even more. This is a needed match because of the upcoming schedule.
Man United home on 13 Sept
Aston Villa away on 20 Sept
Liverpool home on 28 Sept
Portsmouth away on 4 Oct
Blackburn away on 20 Oct
Arsenal home on 26 Oct

That is a pretty tough run of games. Points from Bolton will be essential.

A few notes:

Cole played 90 minutes for the reserves on wednesday. That was his first 90 minutes of the season. Di Canio should dress tomorrow. But don't expect either to start.

Julian Gray from Crystal Palace is wanted at Charlton, but the two teams are a long ways apart on the transfer fee.

There you go. I thought it was because I tried it just before the game started and the server was just busy.

I assue this is why the previous poster said what he did:

"BOLTON WANDERERS 0 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 0

A disappointing game of few chances as defences were to the fore.

Bolton had the best of the opportunities as Jay Jay Okocha hit the bar early on and Youri Djorkaeff had one cleared off the line five minutes from time."

Sounds like game was a defensive struggle. It is nice to know that at least for one game, and with a little luck, Charlton's defense can hold a team with decent strikers scoreless.

Three points would have been great, but one will do.

That schedule is brutal. Three home games against 3 of the best 5 finishers from last season and 3 tough away fixtures.

You are correct. The schedule is really difficult. The adavantage is that if Charlton comes out of the next six games with even 9 points, that would be a great success. I would love more, but 9 is realistic. Plus once these games are out of the way, the fixtures get easier.
