UPDATE: Maldini has announced that he will be officially retiring from professional soccer at the end of the Serie A campaign, according to Goal.com.
ANALYSIS: It is likely that we have already seen the 39-year-old's final game. Maldini picked up a severe thigh injury in training on Thursday, and is expected to miss the remaining five games of the Serie A season. This concludes an illustrious career for one of the greatest footballers of all-time.
