What a shock Only 49 years old...

I don't know how Larqué will be able to do the play-by-play tomorrow. It will probably feel really weird to anyone watching the game in France...

RMC said there might be a minute of silence before the kick off, and that Les Bleus will wear a black armband.

Triste journée

Very sad news... A great loss for football viewers.

Gilardi was currently the best French speaking commentator. His love for the game made him enjoy every nice action in a match, whether from the French or the opponent. As a result, he was very much appreciated in Switzerland as well;-)

He will be sadly missed. Hopefully Thierry Roland won't come back...

gilardi will be missed, and hard to replace.

thierry roland has come back to work on M6, and every match he calls is further proof his proper place is a rest home

Actually, the best commentator of French TV is Arsène Wenger*...

But Gilardi will still be missed. How brutal. RIP

*Yes, I know. Technically he's a consultant.

He may have an impressive knowledge on the game, but the tone of his voice puts you to sleep...

My favorite replacement would be Guy Roux
