As long as he can't change the tax that's a waste of time. This is just another mediatic show. Anyway, Laporte doesn't even know what football is. He is always comparing Rugby and football. That's all he can do.
It mentions Real Madrid's 300 million dollar budget compared to OL's 140 million dollar budget however OL were still able to beat them twice when the two played each other. Also money had nothing to with Bordeaux and Marseille getting beat in the UEFA Cup by inferior teams. In the Champions League the luck of the draw is a huge factor. Schalke and Fenerbache wouldn't be in the quater finals if they had to play ManUtd. like OL did.
This is France, my friend. Creating state commissions, administrative committees, bureaucratic observatories, board of experts and the like is our national past time. Bureaucracy is French the same way apple pie is American. Laporte is not a politician, he is not an "énarque", but he certainly does learn fast : issue => bureaucratic commission. It's hardcoded. No possible bypass. Will this solve anything ? Of course, it will ! It will give an easy, well paid job to some good political friends for a while. Maybe a limo for the chairman, too. Now that is important. Eric Besson is a former leftist who switched side after Sarkozy was elected. Such "honesty", such "selflessness" deserves a little money in the pocket, no ? By the way, I've heard Marie-Georges Buffet, former minister of sports, suggesting that we could nationalize Ligue 1. Soon, the Lyon Partizan will compete with Lokomotiv Bordeaux and Spartak Marseille for the title. Now that Fidel Castro is a free agent, maybe we should hire him to replace Domenech. Ha. French politicians. Fortunately, we have them for the comic relief.
Oh I pretty much figured that Laporte's new role was indeed a "token job" considering he used to be a rugby coach.
i'd like to open a complete study of how bernard laporte handled the XV de france's home stretch in the RWC... it was like he'd already handed in his resignation and was concentrating on "bigger" things.
What about a Sorbonne's study and a thesis on "Machiavelli and the interference of political power: the effect of Guy Môquet's letter on the sociologic fact" ?
"Culinarity values" (*) were already fulling his head. Now, he can work on "competivity values". As a rugbyman, he has a lot of "bravitude" after all. Then, he will help the government in its fight against "unemployemenity values", restore "economitude", and everything will be ok again. Once upon a time, France was a country of culture. Today, even ministers can't speak French anymore. "Stupidity values" rule everything. O tempora ! O mores ! ----------------------- (*) note to English speakers : "culinarity values" doesn't mean anything in French either.
culinarity mon cul! what's he going to do, stand in the aisles at carrefour holding a tray of little chunks of ham covered with cream cheese? avec bravitude, je positive!
The irony here is that its these same bureaucracies and commissions that created the FFF that we know today, with their training academies, Clairefontaine and the like. It works at the National level at least...
Good luck Laporte you imbecil! Ligue 1 is a disgrace now that the most popular team is toiling in Ligue 2. You just lost over 40,000 fans packing one of European soccer's greatest venues the Stade Felix Bollaert! Ligue 1 is dead and buried! How could you allow this. Enjoy Toulouse and their great rugby fan base!!!!! Scum!!!!!!!!!
Over 40,000 supporters???? Since when? Most popular team???? In the North, yes; in France? Hardly. And how is this Lacombe's fault? Bizarre.
take it from an SF giants fan. there's always next year! OM and sainté have both seen D2 in recent history, it's not the end of the world. the person i feel sorriest for is carrière: i always liked him when he was here, and judging from what i saw of RCL this year he's not to blame, doesn't deserve to play in L2 next year at his age... but if you can keep him in the team, and his statements after bordeaux in mind, the future will be brighter.
