Default Spain being banned from Euro 2008?

What is the story with Spain vs. FIFA? Supposedly Spain wanted to elect their own Football President (or something like that), and supposedly FIFA did not like it. Can some of you knowledgeable fans/experts fill us in on the story. Plus I don't think FIFA can control Euro 2008 anyway? It is UEFA, right?

Spanish court rules against delaying soccer federation elections despite FIFA threat
Feb 29, 9:13 am EST

MADRID, Spain (AP)—The Spanish soccer federation’s bid to delay its elections was rejected by a court on Friday, almost two weeks after FIFA threatened to suspend the country for government interference.

The Spanish government has ordered all national sporting federations that failed to qualify for the Beijing Olympics to hold elections before the games start in August.

On Feb. 17, FIFA warned that Spain’s national team and its clubs risked being banned from international competitions unless the federation pushed back its March 31 election date to autumn. FIFA wants the Spanish federation to serve out its full mandate.

Septic Bladder claimed FIFA is bigger then the UN, hes drunk on power.
Football may be, FIFA isnt.

Im sure UEFA could head a new world order and get other federations to join.

Not to mention all the corruption and bribery that has been reported,
espeically with the poorer federations and elections.

FIFA has more members than the UN.
