Agreed.
I hate to be a wet blanket, especially since I'd love to see Cannon come back. If signing the petition is just for fun then ok, but I have problems with the concept.
First, because he's still a top keeper in the league, and a beloved former Quake, I'm certain that Doyle and Yallop have already explored Cannon's availability. Either he's not available or the price is more than we're willing to give up for a 30-something keeper, when we got a serviceable (and maybe hungry to prove himself) model for cheap.
Following that thought, until they give us good reason to do otherwise, we need to trust that the footballing professionals, like Doyle and Yallop have a plan and know what they're doing. Let's see what they can put together first before we try to tell them what to do.
Last, although of course I believe that any professional sports team needs to listen to its fans, I would be absolutely dismayed at a GM and head coach who would simply hop to whatever a group of fans demands.
Again, if signing the petition is just good fun and I'm taking the whole thing too seriously, I apologize.

And there is a keeper in the world who would be more inspired than Joe Cannon to come home and play for the expansionQuakes. I don't think so.
You'll never.. eeeeeevvvveeerrrr... beat Joe Cannon.

Everytime you sign a petition asking the Quakes to sign a former player, God kills a kitten. Please don't sign the petition. Think of the kittens!

Re: Help bring MLS Goalkeeper, JOE CANNON, back to the San Jose Earthquakes!
Everytime someone uses that ********ing "God kills a kitten" thing...
I'd be really happy if Doyle and Yallop did not try to save a few bucks in goal, and I'd be really happy if Wolff, Fischer, Beane and co. did not try to save a few bucks on their MLS team roster.
I'd be really happy to sit in the Casbah with Joe Cannon defending our goal every other week.
