Thumbs up Larry looks East in January!

With the ever increasing cost of signing English players, many of whom seem to have ridiculously high transfer fees slapped on them by their club, Blackpool are apparently focussing a lot of attention on Eastern Europe, particularly of course, Latvia to bring in players.

One example of the high values placed on English players is the £400,000 price tag placed on striker Andy Bishop by League Two club Bury. The lad is unproven at a higher level and although he has been a long term target for us he won't be coming here for that money.

A Latvian 'keeper is apparently currently on trial at Blackpool among several foreign players currently on trial at the club which includes "former internationals".

With Latvian international Kaspars Gorkss now being one of the first names on the team sheet and playing superbly for the Seasiders the signs are that there could well be more Latvians arriving in the January transfer window, and with players already here on trial it is likely that some will sign pretty soon after 1st January 2008.

Well, if your country "invented" the sport, doesn't that mean your country has the best players, hands down?

Seriouxly, that is a high transfer fee. Sheesh. DC's keeper is going to Norway for probably that much, and he's a proven keeper, though he's had his fair share of gaffs

Hmmmm, just wondering if Blackpool's Latvian owner has any financial interest in the Latvian teams these Latvian players might be coming from???
