OK, so I lied about the typos. I wish it would have been more creative, something like Germnanny. Gives one flashbacks to The Omen.

And just like clockwork, as soon as TC updates the list, Ricken catches the next flight back to Gernmay (chuckles) never to come back. And the saga of the Columbus Crew in search of a difference maker to play with GBS continues. Stay tuned.
Moffat is outstanding. I only missed one Cleveland home game last year and that kids got talent. He even has a couple of people still following him from his old 3rd League team in Scotland, Elgin City. And he didn't grow up in that town, either, so they're not following him for that reason. Also, as someone said above, he's a very nice young man who loves the game. He's very cool under pressure and knows how to finish. He was a key asset for us even deep into the second half. I hope he gets some starts.
Some new info from the Mitchell blog (most of it already covered here). 1. Three trialists have returned to Columbus with the team: So (Forward); Ekpo (Mid); and Jose (LB). 2. Two haven't: Ricken and Alvaro. 3. Took out the (in camp/out of camp stuff) 4. I got rid of Friedli, he was a trialist, and Mitchell didn't mention him. 5. Other trialists gone. 6. I kept the supplementals on. 7. No idea on the Discovery Rules (you get 6), but after you tag a player, if you release the player, can the tag be reused? I. after lighting things up a year ago in preseason I think he got cut around August or so, but I don't really recall the specifics.
Yes, he did get cut last season. August sounds about right. He was a CA kid. maybe he'll get picked up by that PDL team that just beat the Crew the other day, some County team....

I did not think much of Eeeekpooo but if Bah is the big black kid that was playing up front for Fusion the other day I say sign him.
Updates: Spelling: Emmanuel Ekpo (from Nigerian soccer forums, Nigerian soccer news) Thread on Ekpo moving to MLS Sections I, VIII: Nico Hernandez - in for Ward. Sections II, IX: Ward - traded to Colorado along with pick for Nico Hernandez Section IV: Chiles: turned 23 last month. Elenio: 21 Tumicz: turns 23 on Saturday Short: just turned 21 Section IX: Gaudette played the second half of the Chivas-Crew game in SLO, CA. He's no longer in NYRB camp.
My impression from the California visit is that Crew needs another defender. I think offense has plenty of weapons especially with the new trade.
OK, update with the Ward/Hernandez trade, and the ages of some of our Supplemental picks. Does anyone know if Nico has a green card? I'm assuming not right now, but let me know if that is incorrect. Note: if Mitchell's blog is to be believed, and we are going to sign two of the trialists (Ekpo and So), we are now at our 8 International maximum, unless someone has a GC that I don't know about or we cut someone else loose. Internationals (5 out of 8- right now) 1. M-F Guillermo Barros Schelotto (I) -Argentina 2. M-F Ricardo Virtuoso (I) -Brazil 3. F Nicolas Hernandez (I) -Argentina 4. M Adam Moffat (I) -Scotland 5. Andy Iro (I)- England About to be signed 6. M Emmanuel Ekpo (Nigeria): Discovery, returned to Columbus; Mitchell says we'll sign him. I think Ekpo is going to start the season taking that 6th spot 7. F Guilherme So (Brazil): Discovery, returned to Columbus; Mitchell says we'll sign him. 8. Ricardo Pierre-Louis, F, Lee, (Haiti), 23 (Draft pick, given ok to finish degree by Sigi but may possibly be in trouble as we keep bringing in trialists?) 9. Lukasz Tumicz, F, Rhode Island, Poland, 23 10. D/M Sandro Jose/da Silva (Brazil): Discovery, returned to Columbus, but Sigi said it might not matter for us to get to know his name 11. M Osvaldo Alonso (Cuba): trialist 12. F Mamadu Bah (Sierra Leone): trialist Interesting that if we sign both Ekpo and So. That will leave only one spot open between our draft pick Louis, Alonso, Bah, Silva, and Tumicz. I'm guessing that unless Tumicz has a GC he will not have a chance to make the roster.
Your probably right, I should redo the international section to exclude draft picks and Moffat, but I'm just too lazy right now. I'll wait for the Ekpo and So signings. Iro I think will make the roster for sure, so... 1) Guillermo Barros Schelotto, M (Argentina) 2) Ricardo Virtuoso, M-F (Brazil) 3) Nicolas Hernandez, F (Argentina) 4) Andy Iro, D (England) 5) Emmanuel Ekpo, M (Nigeria) 6) Guilherme So, F (Brazil) 2 spots left, battle between 7) Adam Moffat, M (Scotland), Developmental Player 8) Ricardo Pierre-Louis, F, (Haiti), Draft Pick 9) Lukasz Tumicz, F (Poland), Supplemental Draft Pick 10) Sandro Jose/da Silva, D/M (Brazil) Trialist, discovery player 11) Osvaldo Alonso, M (Cuba); trialist 12) Mamadu Bah, F (Sierra Leone), trialist
Virtuoso is out. I'm expecting Moffat to make it, just seems Sigi is high on him. So really you could probably just slide Moffat's name in there. My best guess is to start the season we have Pierre-Louis as number 7. Mamadu Bah sneaks in at number 8, Sigi has been impressed with his offense. Then whoever does worse out of the eight gets cut in July for a DP.
Lukasz Tumicz has just signed a 3 year deal in Poland and will play for Jagiellonia Bialystok. Official info (in Polish): http://jagiellonia.pl/artykul.php?id=2377
I appreciate the running roster report. Is Ryan Miller for sure "in"? Or in for now? The official MLS site isn't listing him as a player anywhere in MLS, but he doesn't appear to have been waived, etc. Thanks for any info - I'm trying to keep my wife informed about the Notre Dame draft picks.
Miller can't be signed to the developmental roster until Monday, which is where I assume he would be headed.
Isn't that the name of the guy in The Producers??? Must have bought a soccer club with his share of the profits from "Springtime for Hitler"....
