Default NGR- Drew Carey part of Seattle Franchise

Well, it's sorta Galaxy related seeing as though Drew is not only a Suite holder at the HDC, he's also one of the Galaxy's (and US Nats) biggest fans.

According to this article, he's also now part-owner of the Seattle MLS team starting in 2009.

More details to follow.

Hey, Tommy. Is Klinsman going to coach Seattle?

Ouch. Hey, even I get 'em wrong once in awhile. At least I acknowledge it here:

Back to Drew Carey, he's got some revolutionary ideas he's gonna implement, but I'll wait until after tomorrow's press briefing to see if they mention it.

I'm really happy Carey's getting more directly involved with US Soccer, but it does bum me out a weeeeee bit that he's now a de facto supporter of a rival club.

More of a positve in the bigger picture; a negative in my solipsistic LA supporter's mind.

PS: Props to Tommy for his mea culpa. I know The Cadaver was kidding, but I closed that thread not long after he posted that, so I hope other folks realize he owned up right away.

I turned the channel to Monday Night Fracas on ABC and there was Drew in the booth. They were in Seattle and they chatted a few times about Drew's involvement with the new franchise in 2009. Pretty cool to see them talking bout MLS there for a while. I'm sure Drew is a part of this because it just makes so much sense to put a team in Seattle, and what's the likelihood that he'll ever be able to buy a team or into group ownership of a team in Cleveland.

totally agree. kinda sux that he probably can't be a part of the galaxy and/or riot squad any longer due to conflict of interest, but a hugely awesome move in the broader picture.

america needs more drew careys...we need people to start speaking up about the greatness of the game and to support it.

i also heard that he's going to go EURO and allow members to vote for their opinions on the GM and whether or not they'd want to have a change in the front office...totally awesome. imagine how much more serious LALAS would take his job if he knew we can just vote him off.

i love the fact that he was a huge baseball and basketball fan and then experienced one galaxy game that changed his life...now he puts soccer over any other sport and he goes out of his way to support the USNT...his interview with david letterman is priceless.

go drew...as long as the price is right, buy the sounders. (or whatever theyre gonna be called)

First, he is implementing a "fan ownership" concept based off the Barcelona model. This does include the fact that the GM must get voted on every four years. Don't like the guy? Vote him/her out. It gives the fans more of a personal stake and pride in the team.

Second, he said that he will always be a G's fan (until 2009), then he has to "root for my money." His hatred of Chivas USA is eternal, though.

Lastly, he's gonna have a "badass drumline-style" marching band that will perform at halftime and before the game as well as lead stadium wide chants.

EDIT: Great video here:
