Default Viera Discusses New Contract

God, I love to see things like this.

Just a few highlights of the quotes form the article:

"I want to be a part of the history of Arsenal, to be connected with all the good memories surrounding this club."

"I don't believe we are behind (United) as a club...Liverpool were the team of the 1980s, United had their time in the 1990s and now Arsenal can be the team of this decade."

"We have all learnt so much from Tony. He motivated people with his words and his talking. I will be different, perhaps I will motivate my team mates by just what I do on the pitch. But he set so many standards, and it's up to us to live up to them."

I'm so pumped for the season to start I'm starting to itch!!!

Quite a turn around from last summer, isn't it? I'm sure winning the Premiership last year has a lot to do with it. Maybe having full captaincy this year will convince him to extend his contract. I'm actually hoping that Viera has a better year compared to last-- let's go Gunners.

All positive stuff from the new skipper. If he can pick up his form to where he was about 3-4 seasons ago another championship is definitely on the cards. He played way below par for a lot of last season and we still won it, so a Vieira on top form would be a huge boost, particularly with the midfield injuries we have at the start of the season.

Vieira could be fit to face Brummies

Patrick Vieira is winning his fight to lead Arsenal into their first Premiership game of the season against Birmingham at Highbury on Sunday...
