Just thought I'd let you know that adidas have prevailed in their court case, and the ban on kangaroo in California will be lifted as of 1st January 2008. Governor Schwarzenegger signed the bill, and thus this whole saga is now put to an end.
Once again I would like to state to all the forum members that the harvesting of kangaroos is a necessary thing here in Australia as controlled by the RSPCA and the various Governments withing the different states, and that the leather is a true by-product.
honestly no soccer shop in california cared about this law
and quite frankly no one went around to up hold this law
i just bought a pair of legends 2 weeks ago
and the shop had loads of kangeroo leather cleats
so its not a suprise for me
I know beckham was wearing microfibre before he moved from real madrid, but I read something a while back about him getting a bunch of greif from peta or some other stupid organization about wearing k-leather and that's why he switched to microfibre boots. any chance with this lift on the ban that he will switch back to k-leather? I like the color of his boots... just hate microfibre.
Yes sorry I've been away for a while, but there are a lot of things in development. In truth this is a common sense victory over some individuals that seemingly have little understanding of the Australian kangaroo industry. Thank heavens common sense has prevailed and in honesty you should thank adidas for throwing their finances behind this one
Beckham....... I honestly can't comment on this topic, but one might suggest he got fed up of the pressure coming from Viva! and it being used as a regular (every world or Euro Cup) sensationalist story by the British tabloids. I would love to see him back in kangaroo boots, as we know that some synthetic boots do seem to make your feet stay VERY hot, and can contribute to blisters.
There's quite a bit of new stuff coming for all the brands. Each seem to be heading in their own direction, so you'll have to wait for the official boot launches before I can say anything.
