Re: Crew to announce jersey sponsor at 2:00pm today It's a corporate crossover sponsorship by Yoo-Hoo and Hooters, yes the Yoo-Hooters. I have been waiting for years to use that thanks for the set up. Why announce it now? Two reasons: 1) the fans are ready to storm the castle with pitchforks and torches at the ready and this will help give the hope of more money coming into the team for next season and 2) MM's contract discussions are either under way or will be soon. This cash injection combined with the injection from the raised season ticket up front money should help the books greatly. I'm thinking it will be a bank as well very likely Nationwide. They just changed their Credit Union and created the bank about a year ago and they are just now starting to roll out their initial public branding campaigns and promotions.

Maybe if this guy from UA buys it and it's back in local hands in the future, but not now. That would be the most logical choice to me. Yellow jerseys with a red "Wendy's" across the front just makes too much sense. My next guess would be Huntington (local bank going through a buyout of another ohio based bank). But since they've put their money into the new Clippers stadium naming rights, my guess is that's all for their "local" sports money. I don't think they're significantly in any other MLS markets. Ditto for Nationwide and the arena. Cardinal Health or Scotts? Maybe. Just don't see it. Lex seems to be divesting Limited brands. Unlikely any or any of their spinoffs would (an that includes A&F). White Castle? Actually I could see that happening. People actually submitted "Sliders" as a team name and it was in the final list I believe. Gotta wonder if it's something a little more national. Honda? Pepsi? Budweiser? I'm gonna go with White Castle.

That's a lot of coin. I'm guessing we're looking at State Farm (works great with the 'Cowtown' jokes), Allstate, Grange Insurance, or National City.

Cardinal Health is going through a multi-million expansion of their corporate HQ and as tight as margins are in health care (OTC, prescription, transportation, warehousing, etc.) I don't see why they would want the limited exposure; they don't need it. Their interest would stop at the medical provider level. Scotts would be interesting; I think the "Miracle-Gro" brand would be fitting based on current performance. The nearby Lowes might also tie in as a mass distributor of Scott's products. Nationwide, in addition to what was just noted, is also involved with Children's Hospital Other thoughts: Time Warner?

We could do the Clippers thing with Dime a Slider Night on a Saturday game or two and still keep Buck a Brat Night. That should solidify the C'bus rep for having the worst diet and one of the largest waist lines in the country. I did not know about the Nationwide/NASCAR deal. That would make it unlikely that they would want to throw more cash around. Sponsorship just doesn't get any bigger than that in this country right now.
