There use to be bleachers on the south end in the old days. They were used for the Redskins and the WC. It is a shame that the old seats in the north end are gone.
Had a blast in the old bleachers for the US-Scotland friendly back in the day. Shit match though. Were they there for MLS Cup '97 (I was in London)?
If I remember correctly, the drainage system was removed/compromised when the infield, in particular, the pitcher's mound was installed, at least at that end of the field. asitis
They were also there for the WCQ vs. Guatemala. They had a hard man named Leon, I believe, who was getting away with murder. Keller made a crucial save around the post right in front of us to preserve the win.
What caught my attention more than the story was the fact that on the top you have all the D.C. pro teams except D.C. United! whats up with that!? NBC stonewalling the sport.
Really? Wow! EDITED to say: Duh, I guess I should have read the piece on Boswell's site, although maybe he came back and edited it later. I don't remember this picture being there when I first clicked on that story.
I thought that when those bleachers were put in, those were the preferred seats for Sams Army. I could be wrong.
Was it just me or did the field look a lot bigger in those pics on BB site? Does anybody know what the dimensions of the new field is?
The area in front of the bleachers on the loud side has grass on it now. Before baseball, it was cinders.
They're the norm in international circles. Permanent fronts and elevated rear top nettings and tacked down lower netting. We've been using the removable temporary goals. These say you're in a soccer stadium. Nothing else.
I remember a goal that Marco scored where he ripped a shot and it came back out so fast the NJ idiots were playing it back downfield while our guys were hugging and celebrating.
The best thing about our current goals is that I love seeing opposing keepers get tangled in the net as they fish for the ball that Emilio or Jaime has put in. That doesn't happen with the snazzy new goals.
I guess that all depends on how tight they tack them down. I've seen them so tight they spit the ball right back out onto the field and so loose they just kill the shot and wait for Hartman to go fishing.
I like the loose ones where the ball goes 2 or 3 feet beyond the nets normal shape and makes the whole net move with it.
