El astro argentino del Manchester United Juan Sebastián Veron fue bastante autocrítico en declaraciones a la prensa inglesa, afirmando que en la pasada temporada todo le salió mal, refiriéndose a que no ganó nada con los Red Devils, y su fracaso con la selección en el Mundial.

"Generalmente intento separar lo que me sucede en el club y lo que me ocurre con el seleccionado. Así que, cómo me siento en el Manchester no tiene nada que ver con lo sucedido en el Mundial", afirmó Verón.

No obstante, admitió que "no puedo obviar el hecho de no haber ganado nada en Manchester y del flojo rendimiento de la Argentina en el Mundial. Ambas cosas ocurrieron una detrás de la otra, y eso hizo que viviera una temporada catastrófica" añadió.

Pero Verón se mostró optimista respecto al futuro. "Lo bueno del fútbol es que siempre hay una segunda oportunidad para poner las cosas en su sitio y obtener alguna revancha", manifestó.

"Quiero empezar de la misma forma que jugué los primeros diez partidos de la pasada temporada y mantener el nivel durante todo el año. Duele cuando no se gana nada y mucho más si uno sabe que el Manchester es uno de los grandes", agregó el ex jugador de Estudiantes de La Plata, Boca, Sampdoria, Parma y Lazio

The Argentine also claims that his country were unlucky to lose to England in the World Cup, but it's domestically where he looks to improve after a poor first season in the Premiership.

He said, "I liked to walk alone at night. I seemed like a lunatic, but in this time I had a chance to think about what had happened. Walking calmly gave me a chance to take into account other things, like knowing who was on my side and who was supporting me. I don't know if the pain of last season and the problems could, one day, return. I do know there are things in football that are difficult to digest."

Speaking on the World Cup and subsequent early exit, he added, "I cried all night. I maintain we did not fail, we just didn't give a good account of ourselves. I haven't spoken in detail with my team-mates about what happened, but I don't think we deserved to lose. England were not better than us, but Argentina did not play - that we know only too well. Sebastián Verón ha dejado en el aire el rumor que podría regresar a la Serie A después de haber permanecido dos temporadas en el fútbol inglés.

"Creo que la próxima temporada estaré en la Serie A. Es un halago que varios clubes se interesen por mí. Los grades jugadores son buenos en grandes equipos. No tendría ningún problema en jugar para Hector Cúper o Marcello Lippi. Soy el hombre adecuado", indicó el argentino, que llegó hace dos años a Manchester procedente de Lazio.
