Germany plays beautifull football?
Ive recently started watching bundesliga matches thanks to sopcast and TVU. And i gotta say german teams play some beautifull and entertaining football. I guess i let myself carry over the hype of english and spanish football.
Im really looking forward to this season.

Re: Germany plays beautifull football?
Shame people buy into the stereotype that all German football is rigid, defensive and boring.
A Brazilian guy I always play with at the field told me he will never watch German football because he finds it too defensive, lacking creativity and all other stereotypes falsly associated with it. Now, he said this not knowing a damn thing about German football, its past and history or the Bundesliga.
Hopefully German teams start performing better in Europe because thats the only way people outside of Germany will pay attention, appreciate it and begin to understand it.

Re: Germany plays beautifull football?
I don't get why being born in a certain country or being of a certain race precludes you from thinking about the game creatively, because that's what these stereotypes imply.
There are so many holes in these stereotypes.
How come germany have 192 world cup goals from 92 games? Brazil have 201 from 92. Those are the two best records and ratios by a mile. Germany have played 2 less tournaments as well. They have a better defensive record at less than 1 goal per game while germany's is quite a bit more than 1 goal per game, which means our games have more goals in them.
If germany when they go 1-0 up, defend the lead all game, then we must have gone 2-0 down every game to have score 192 goals right?
How come germany are involved in all the greatest (attacking) games in history?
How come german players dominate the ballon d'or awards if there have never been "great individual players"? Since 1996 there have been only 3 german nominations in the top three. There are 27 overall (7 first place = tied first with Holland), which is 8 more than the next country, which shows the dominance in the 30 years before that.
If gerd muller scored only tap ins for his ridiculous goal record, then isn't that admitting that germany have had an amazing midfield that can pass/dribble through everyone to provide him with just tap ins?
I can't prove the style of play using stats, but watch the games from the past eras and read articles written in those times and talk to people who were young in those times.
Every stereotype can be shot down right there.
Btw, werder bremen currently play the nicest looking football.

Re: Germany plays beautifull football?
They certainly do! I would chose watching the German national team over almost any other national team right now and basically any German league game is better to watch than most of the EPL when the big teams are not involved. In another forum I actually read some posts of a Dutch poster (who was clearly a hater of the German national team to be honest) he said the match against England would surely be boring and they would defende 90 minutes long. When did they last play defensive football?! Did these people watch any of the games Germany played at the world cup or in the qualifiers? Did they what any Bundesliga match? Surely not.

The question is, when will holland start to play attacking football again because they haven't in a long time. Only in spurts over the last 15 years.

To be fair, even in half the 80s and then 1990 the NT played an attacking style. It really began to stink from the mid 90s onwards.
And 70s and some of the 60s...well...and beautiful as you can get.
Even hans peter briegel who actually formed this stereotype of all germans being robotic, actually improved technically a lot, went to italy and played a leading role in hellas verona winning the scudetto in 1985

yeah, mid 90-mid 00's was utter crap. I'm perplexed at why that would be the case. Laziness in part of DFB? Foreigners in buli? players not giving a damn?
