Assuming this isn't a Designated Player, this is a pretty good signing, IMO. He's done good things with El Tri and scored some big goals and he isn't too old. He ought to put some Mexi fans in the seats and, presumably, be able to help the Rapids score some goals. If he is a DP, it's still not a bad signing though I think they likely could have gotten a tad more bang for the buck. While he's a good player, his goal-scoring rate is a little low for a DP salaried player. The Rapids release says he scored 61 times in 278 games or 1 goal every 4.5 games. For El Tri, he has 12 goals in 56 games, which is a similar strike rate. Again, decent numbers and he should do fine in MLS but not the kind of strike rate that commands DP money.
Good for Colorado - and more selfishly, me as a viewer of Colorado games! Always happy to see what someone like him brings to the table. I even welcomed the chance to watch The King of Goals play, though, so take my enthusiasm with that bit of caution.
He is not a DP, as far as any of the fans have heard (Plush has been asked on multiple occasions and he's said that Osorno is not a DP, and they have no plans to sign a DP this season).
I can't recall him right now, although I'm sure I've seen him for El Tri at some point. The nice thing about him is that he's only 28. He's in that Marinelli age range where he's young enough for the club to use him for the future. According to Wikipedia, he's had 12 appearances in 94 appearances since '04 for Atlas. Not a great rate, but I'm not even sure what kind of role he was playing there. The nice thing about that stat is that he's played about 30 games per year in that span, which means he's sufficiently healthy. Also according to Wikipedia he was also courted by Santos and Monterrey before the Rapids signed him.

He was really good during the La Volpe years, but he has gone downhill since them. Injuries have slowed him down a lot. He is not a forward, more like a LAM.
Sorry, only complete morons would promote a player to head coach midseason for more than a game or two. Oh, wait...
