Default Liverpool versus Europe

It's 43 years since the Reds began their European odyssey against Reykjavik.
In that time, they've faced opposition from 37 countries, and 11 pieces of silverware have found their way back to the Anfield trophy cabinet.

No new ground left to break then, you'd think. Well, this season could see the club venture into unchartered territory if they are drawn against one of four teams in the third qualifying round.

If the Reds are pitted against either Toulouse, Fenerbache, Lazio and Werder Bremen on August 3, they'll be facing their 100th different opponent in European competition.

Here are the 99 teams Liverpool have played in Europe:

Austria: Austria Wien, Grazer, Innsbruck

Belgium: Anderlecht, Standard Liege, Brugge

Bulgaria: CSKA Sofia, Levski Sofia

Cyprus: Apollon Limassol

Czech Republic: FC Slovan Liberec

Default Re: Reds Set To Break New Euro Ground

Jeezus, that was the first (Reykjavik) wasn't it? A real party atmosphere it was as well, Ian St John and the gang were so surprized that we were booing them while the Icelandic team were receiving cheers from us in the the Kop.
Well we won 6 - 1 that day after a 5-0 win in Iceland, besides the Wives and girlfriends from Reykjavik were exceptionally sweet. The 11 -1 aggregate went to our heads a little.

An absolutely wonderful and unforgettable year for us who were there.
Anderlecht were next, Then the the epic 3 match series to get past Cologne, 330 minutes of football that ended in a coin toss. Heatbreak for Cologne and Inter Milan for us.....
