MSV Duisburg 07/08 [R]
Are there any otehr MSV Duisburg fans around? I went to Germany and caught a gam ethere against Offenbach. Beautiful stadium and great game. Wea also saw TuS Koblenz play RWE. It was fun but we had a better experience at Duisburg.

Re: Zebra Fans
Not really a Fan but lets say I have some amount of sympathy for them.
Rudi Bommer being their coach is one reaon for it, good experiences with some Duisburgfans due to our former fan-friendship is another one...
I do like their stadium. Its just maybe a little too big for them. Definitely a nice place to go for an awaygame tough!

Re: Zebra Fans
I guess I started liking the Zebras at the start of the 05-06 Bundesliga campaign. They were the first game of the season on TV when Fox Soccer Channel still carried a game in the morning on Saturdays. I lived for those mornings...A beer and bratwurst on the couch at 10:00 on a Saturday morning. My wife and I went to Germany over the Easter break (We are both teachers). My goal was to see at least one game. Fortunately we were staying in Koblenz and when they played RWE we had nothing to do so went. Koblenz was a great town, but the track in the stadium spaces the crowd a bit from the goals. However, we both had a good time enjoying the atmosphere. It was a great week...Every night that week pretty much had a German team on TV, eitehr playing in the Champions League or EUFA Cup, or League matches.
The otehr game I really wanted to get to was on Easter Sunday. My intended destination was Schalke because it always looks fun on the highlights. However, since they were at the top I felt we would not be able to get tickets for the game on that day and it would be a waste of a trip. Instead we decided to go to Duisburg, which was just as good for me.
On the DB on the way up from Koblenz I saw someone with a Duisburg scarf. I asked him if he was going to the game and he got really excited that we were from America and going all the way to se a game. He was really nice and our train got to Duisburg about 10 minutes before the match started. My German is not htat good so he helped us catch a cab to the Arena, even paid for it to! When we got there he also set us up with great tickets at the ticket booth. He explained they were expensive, I think 30 Euros each for midfeild about 10 rows off the pitch and in the afternoon sun. In my mind I was thinking that's about $40 which would get you nose bleeds in the rafters at any NY area team.
Needless to say we had a great day. The sun was shining, MSV trounced Offenbach 4-0, and my wife also became a fan.
The stadium is a little big, BUT it was Easter Sunday and the supporters section was packed as well as a quarter of the other areas.
If anyone ever has a week off in that April week, it would be a great time to go see German soccer. I could have seen a game every night between League, CL, and Uefa games.
Hoosier...are you an active supporter? The guy who helped us went to the supporters section and gave me his email address but it hasnt worked...

Re: Zebra Fans
yes i am quite active i must say
i think i average out at about 30 out of 34 games a season, home and away.
since we dont have that big of an active supporters scene chances are good that i actually know that person.
i am looking forward to the new season very much! we have a pretty good roster this year and i think chances are high that we dont get relegated again

Re: Zebra Fans
What do you think about your new "diva" Tony Ailton, dear MSV fans?
I'm really curious how he'll get along in the modest MSV environment...
