Into the America’s Cup with 2 races done. First one won by the Swiss Alinghi team and then today an exciting race to see team New Zealand come from behind after a slight wind shift and a brain fart from the Swiss team.
The key to keeping ahead is sit on top of your opponent, seems the tactician and helm were a little complacent and NZ capitalized went through and then sat on their opponent. It’s not often in match racing that teams come from behind.
Good win by the Kiwi’s but I think Alinghi has a tad faster boat so NZ has to play the windshifts better. Barker team NZ driver has won both starts but only by moments not enough to really influence the two races so far. Different from the Loius Vuitton Cup when those starts won him all the races.
There’s no sailing tomorrow, a lay day to let them regroup but Tuesday and Wed. they’ll be out racing again. Looks like it’s going to be a close and interesting series.
