For those of us who live on the other side of the Delaware and would rather not travel in to Philly for matches, I think we now have an option. I've been watching the Gold Cup matches at Brewer's Tavern (formerly Pat's Place) on Haddon Ave. in Westmont/Haddon Township, and they have a couple of flat screen tvs that they play U.S. Nats matches, if one asks to watch them. It is a working-class bar that has food and Flying Fish and Yard's on tap. I'll be there tonight for the U.S.-Canada match and hope that some of you join me and help make this "our soccer bar" in South Jersey.
I totally would come, but I have to play sax tonight for some stuffy lawyers in center city. Next time.
Oh, I have heard a lot of good things about Cork, just haven't made it there yet. Other than that though...it's pretty bleak over there.
Monday nights half priced bottles of wine try the tuna tare tare and the pear/Gorgonzola flat bread, it's to die for!
Major props to OKTerrific for supplying the right response to a suggestion to start cheering for the Red Bulls. Speaking of restaurants in the area, Kitchen 233, next to Brewer's on Haddon Ave., also seems nice, though Cork is indeed the place to go for wine. I may make it to Brewer's tonight for the U.S.-Argie match, though D.C. is playing until 9. If anyone else is going, let us know. (No FSC telecast, only GolTV and Telefutura, which Brewer's picks up).
If you're going to be in the South Jersey Shore areas you can head over to Tucker's in Wildwood. I spent a lot of time there last Summer watching the World Cup until my eyes fell out. Plus they have Smithwick's on tap (Bonus!).
Lies! I was dodging the sparks flying between them! Though they may have been doing their best Emperor Palpatine impressions...
