A question re Americans living in England
[I've posted about this before, so I apologize, but it was in the middle of some other thread, and I wanted to see what everyone thought without digging up an old thread.]
I was wondering what people thought my best course of action for next year should be, in regards to Arsenal ticketing.
I'm living in England for the next year, possibly two. I'm teaching at a boarding school about an hour from London. The school year is early September through late June, so I'll be in the country for basically every Arsenal fixture for this season and the next.
The school is on the British 3-term schedule, so I have a break mid-December to mid January as well as late March to late April. Generally, class IS in session on Saturday, though on about 7 in-term Saturdays I'll be free (due to "leave-outs" and "exeats").
Premiership: According to my calculations and calendar reading, (all social life and other travels excluded) I will be able to make 16 Saturday league games and every Sunday league game (however many there are. 12 this year).
Champions League: I could potentially make it to every home fixture, though I don't know my exact schedule, so I have no idea if I'd have time to travel after class. Outside of term-time, according to the provisional CL schedule for 07-08, there is Matchday 6, Knockout Round 1st Leg, and both Quarterfinal Legs.
To summarize: 16 Saturdays + ~10 Sunday + at least 4 Champions League.
That's 30 games that look to be 100% makeable for me over the next year. Possibly more, considering Carling Cup and FA Cup. Hell, if I was given 30 minutes notice of a replay at St. Mary's, I could probably get there in time.
The Questions: Does it make sense for me to get a Red Membership? (I'm assuming the answer to that one is yes) Can I still get tickets through Arsenal America for select games? Have I made any bad assumptions? Things I haven't considered?
Sorry for such a long post. In a way, this was more a clarification to myself than anything else. But I'd really appreciate any help/advice you guys could give. I look forward to meeting some of you all at next year's campaign.

Re: A question re Americans living in England
I would renew your ArseAm membership for sure. It seems Rick was able to get spares for most every match last season. Get to know Rick and keep in touch with him. It wouldn't hurt to get a Red membership as well as there have been plenty of matches that went on sale to Red members.

Re: A question re Americans living in England
I live north of you(Scotland) and I must say get a red mebership is a must as well as Arseam. let me break it down.
1. A number of matches have gone to red members this year(more than previous due to increase of seating, etc...) So they is a very good chance you can get tickets.
2. By renewing your ArseAm membership, say there are matches(away, etc...), if you give our resident ticket guru enough notice(and follow up!), you stand a chance of a more variety of matches plus maybe better seats.
Previously I had to do an email to get tickets to matches until i joined Arsenal Scotland where it is much easier to get tickets plus when they need tickets, they can use my red membership number to help out someone else. So by having both, your increase your options.

Re: A question re Americans living in England
This is just my opinion, but if you have the opportunity to go to 30 games, and can afford to go to 30 games, then you should get a red membership which costs less than half of one home match ticket.

Re: A question re Americans living in England
Well I don't think I'll go to 30 games, whether or not I can afford to. My time in England is limited, and though I'll forego other trips for certain games (Manure, Spuds, Chelski, 'Pool), not going to visit Sunderland in the winter instead of going to India.
But yah, I do think I'll be getting a Red Membership. 100% renewing my Arse Am card.

Re: A question re Americans living in England
finally bought my Season Ticket Waiting List spot! (whenever I would remember it would be 5 PM GMT...)
I'm going to hold out on the Red Membership, as I may not have as many possible games as I thought...

Re: A question re Americans living in England
Is the ArseAmer site back up enough to renew membership for this coming season? Studying abroad in London during the fall, I plan to go to lots of matches
