My Patience with Sigi is Wearing Thin...
Okay Sigi,
I know you inherited a big, stinking pile from that last guy. You turned over pretty much the entire roster before last year. You can only do so much in one offseason and we had a ton of injuries last year, so I'm more than willing to write off last season as a rebuilding year and give you the benefit of the doubt.
But I'm not willing to write off this year as rebuilding, part II. It's time to win some goddamn games. We're about 1/4 of the way through the season now and we have one win. We're on pace for about 4 wins, which would easily be the worst in league history.
It's nice that we're getting better every week, but guess what? The rest of the league is getting better faster than we are. I thought it was pretty sweet that we picked up Schelotto, but if we're still losing games 4-0, then who cares? I know he hasn't had much time to mesh with the rest of the team or adapt with the flow of the league, but we're always waiting for this guy to find his groove or that guy to get healthy or this prospect to come around and start producing and nothing ever comes out of it and I'm really goddamn sick of it. It's time for something to happen.
Sigi, I was thrilled when we hired you and I can't honestly think of somebody who we had a realistic chance at getting who I'd have rather had seen hired, but we're long overdue for some wins. If you can't get those wins, then I think the time is fast approaching where the Polish Rifle gets his chance to see if he can do the job.
This isn't a 'Fire Sigi' thread, this is an 'I'm goddamn sick of losing and someone needs to be held accountable' thread.
We've had enough waiting, Sigi. Win some damn games.

Sweet jesus. It's 1:15 in the morning and I'm drunk, amongst other things, AND I swear to god not only do I wish the crew and more importantly, represent the 'boot' Jason Garey, but I've said the following phrase a many a time tonight....
"YA GA'DAMN RIGHT"
and it applies here as well.
I want the crew to be competitive, so I'm with ya brotha.

Re: My Patience with Sigi is Wearing Thin...
Sigi's quote from thecrew.com:
Quote:
|
"I didn't think it was a 4-0 game. I thought we played all right in the first half. They scored a very good goal but there were periods in the first half that we dominated. I though we created chances in the box but it's not resulting in the ultimate shot or even forcing a big save out of the goalkeeper. We were right around the edge but couldn't get there. The second goal took the wind out of our sails a little bit. It was a bad goal, and the third goal was worse. At that point, the game is over."
|
You thought we played all right in the first half? I don't want to hear anything positive being said by the coach of that horrific team I just watched. This quote needs to contain *%$#! and cute phrases in [these brackets] to cover up all the nasty words Sigi should be saying. Sigi, I don't like your "it's not all that bad" attitude. We need a player sacrifice to appease the fans after this one.

You didn't think it was a 4-0 game? Well guess what Sigi, when the other team scores four goals and we score zero (again), then it's a 4-0 game. When you try to say that we played better than that and that we were unlucky to have lost by that much, it reminds me an awful lot of that other guy we had coaching before talking about how we created so many chances, but the soccer gods just weren't on our side.
A 4-0 loss is a goddamn pasting. Own up.

Re: My Patience with Sigi is Wearing Thin...
Okay, sorry everyone, but I'm super pissed off and I just can't stop ranting.
Not a 4-0 game? Okay, what do you want to call it? We can call it a 4-1 game if you want. Or maybe a 3-0 game if that makes you feel better.
In a 0-0 game or a 1-0 game, you can say "we played better tonight and were unlucky not to get the win (or the tie)" and get away with it, still sounding somewhat credible, because that's just how soccer goes sometimes.
Everybody knows that a team can lose 1-0 and still be the better team over the course of the match. That's soccer. But if you try to call a 4-0 loss anything other than a total ass-kicking, then you just sound like a delusional jackass.
"Yeah, it's really unlucky that we played a perfect through ball to the OTHER TEAM'S FORWARD!!!! And it's also totally unlucky that we forgot to mark the big, fat, slow, bald guy right in front of the goddamn goal. And it's very unlucky that he happened to head it in at point blank range. Will things ever fall our way?"
Well, uh, NO. Things won't EVER go our way when we make those total dumbass mistakes. It's like we were trying everything we could to give away the match.

The other guy didn't show up to say anything. He would have just hid in the hamper.
And the real difference is, Sigi is correct in every facet of his statement. There was more to that game then just the score line. After the first goal, the team did play better then NY, they did create chances for themselves, chances that fizzled out with the last touch and didn't really result in anything. The second and third goals were weak, against the run of play, and compleatly inescusable, especially when your a team chasing a goal.

I believe Sigi is saying the exact same thing you are when he said
"The second goal took the wind out of our sails a little bit. It was a bad goal, and the third goal was worse. At that point, the game is over."
Without those goals, it is a 1-0 game that under you're definition Sigi can say exactly what he said.

Re: My Patience with Sigi is Wearing Thin...
Yeah good points. The problem is Sigi has basically picked alone two seperate teams in two seasons. He obviously can't put together a winning combination anymore if you look at the results thus far.
I still think that Scheletto and the team will pull together and get in the playoffs. All this team needs is a win to gain some confidence and there is a good chance we do that against TFC. Then again I went to work and went out so Im watching the game now. But I think we are a few changes away maybe, we have to trade Gaven, and not start Brad Evans. I don't know what Sigi's interest is in starting players that add nothing like Evans and Garey. That's a big question for me.

Re: My Patience with Sigi is Wearing Thin...
And what did Arena have to say about the game?
Quote:
On the game:
"In all fairness, this was not a 4-0 game. Everyone will look at the score tomorrow and think we dominated and we certainly didn't. I think Columbus in stretches were pretty good tonight. However, at the end of the day, I think defensively we were pretty solid for most of the game. I think the goals we scored were timely and made a difference in the game."

Re: My Patience with Sigi is Wearing Thin...
It's 3:50-ish in the morning. I'm drunk, half-stoned, and equally pi$$sed. I went to the match at $28 a seat and feel abused. I can't even talk about it right now. If it weren't for rum I might burn my crew jersey with me wearing it. the match was 4-0 and the score was just. My Crew suck (yet again) and there's no recourse. This is a moment of truth. Why did I buy 1/4 season tix for RBNY? I don't know. Well I wanted to see my Crew and the Gals. I hope the other 3 matches are better quality. I'm almost ready for expansion in Cleveland. They can't be any worse than the Sigi and the Crew...
