IE 4.7 Mail GONE!
I've just lost about four or five years of mail. I did put a new version of Netscape (V7.0) on my PC last october so all is not lost but I continued to use my old version to send and receive messages.
Here is the curious part. The Inbox file in my users directory is 152MB so I *know* the messages are there but Netscape won't show them. How can I get them back??

Hrm. IE mail? You mean Outlook Express? Need more information about what is actually going down...
If you _do_ get it back up, I would suggest archiving some of those messages into a separate mail file.

OMG
IE mail? You mean Outlook Express?
No I mean Netscape 4.7 mail . . What was I thinking? Sorry foos.
Let's see if I can resurect myself. My Netscape mail messages in just my main inbox folder "decided" to stop being shown. Previously my inbox showed 1000's of messages but, for no reason, none showed up a few days ago. I looked in my user directory and saw my inbox file was 152MB then backed it up to a CD burner. Since then I've received more messages and only the new ones are showed in the main inbox folder. My sub folders have remained uncorrupted showing several years worth of messages.
I'm wondering if the inbox file is just too big and have thought about using Wordpad to cut the first five or ten meg of messages but I have no idea if that will work.

Hrm. I dunno - I don't really know anything about Netscape mail. If it's like UNIX mail files (which I expect it is), then you should be able to cut out a large chunk of the file in a text editor without breaking it. Good luck!
BTW, thank's about the avatar. I stumbled across it on another site, and liked it so much I stole it for myself.

You're not by chance logging onto your computer differently, are you? Or not logging in?
Could be an authentication issue, but you're really not giving enough information. Lets start with your OS- What is it?

W98 and again the sub folders apear just fine. It's just the main inbox messages before a few days ago that aren't showing up.
