Re: Cletus to NYRB
WTF? I mean really WTF? This is our aweseome striker? What is his salary now about $400,000. He is way past it. If this doesn't allow us to use our DP I will be even more pissed off. I may change my mind on this trade considering what we gave up and what his contract is but right now I don't like this trade at all.

Re: Cletus to NYRB
He's worth $75k to come off the bench. But he's definately not starter material - well, if we want to win, that is.

Re: Cletus to NYRB
Any idea what you guys gave us? I'd be happy to take a bag of balls if you took Kirovski along with Mathis...

Re: Cletus to NYRB
Oh. My. God.
Please tell me
a) we didn't give up anything huge for Mathis
b) this isn't our big forward signing
Holy Crap, Bruce - are you stuck in 2000-2002?

Re: Cletus to NYRB
ESPN firewalled at work - tell me?
Does this look like rumor or is it official. Because if it is official why isn't on MLSnet?

Re: Cletus to NYRB
Here's the article from ESPN.com:
Quote:
"The Colorado Rapids have traded Clint Mathis to the New York Red Bulls, ESPN.com has learned. Sources close to Mathis confirmed the deal, but complete details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The 30 year-old Mathis is expected to join NYRB in Charleston, South Carolina where the team is training through Sunday in preparation for their season opener against the Columbus Crew on April 7.

Re: Cletus to NYRB
The article presents it as a done deal, with details still to be announced. Mathis is already travelling to join up with the team in Carolina.

Right, cuz we have so many starting options up front. Mathis > Woly.
