If the Fire signs him I won't attend any Fire home matches 'til he's gone in protest. It pains me to even think that way but signing him in my opinion says the current front office for this club will stoop to any level. Why spend so much money on a former good player? There are better players whom we could get and would draw well at this stadium. He's not the magic bullet and it would be nice if the Fire and other MLS clubs came to that realization.

Honestly, I don't understand all the people who are getting their panties all twisted up. So perhaps the dude is a dick. Who knows. Do we really care? I don't really know about any of the Fire's personal lives and I don't care. And I am sure the players want it that way too.

If we just look at his playing history he should be able to make a positive impact on the game.

In addition, he has the potential to really build a bridge between the Fire and the Mexican fanbase.

I just can't wait until he comes.

That is how soccer is managed. He would give us a great scoring threat. I may hate him, like England hates Ronaldo. but I would love for him on my club. He is a national team villan, not a club villan. the club villan, is Carlos "overrated" Ruiz. so don't diss the fire for getting a good striker, who would push us to the top.

We have some experience with this sort of thing in LA..
At the start, more Mexican fans will come out expecting him to run circles around MLS defenses.. When reality sets in and it's learned that won't happen they will stop coming as it won't fit into the picture they want to see..
As far as Chivas fans in the Chicago area, your guess is as good as mine as to their attitude from the start.
Maybe they'll come out to root for the other team..

That said.. He is a talented and entertaining player.
A lot Chicago fans may take to him (some only after time) if he maintains enough of that talent..

My quote had nothing to do with his talent, it had to do with Super Sting's claim that he would bridge the gap to the Mexican community.

But since you bring it up, this guy has diminishing talent who could very well be a problem both on the field and off. I've seen comparisons to Guevara, please God help us if that is the case.

The FO could have/should have done a LOT better then this guy.

I'm not planning on sitting down to a cervaza with the guy, so I don't really care if he is a huge dick.

The problem is that there is evidence that he has been a clubhouse cancer in recent years. That, I have a problem with.

It is possible for one person to make everyone else so miserable as to bring down the group.

If we sign him, we sign him. I will hope for the best in this regard, but all things being equal, I would prefer we use our DP on someone else with less potential down side.
