Smile Money, Money, Money

Sam has been told he has money to spend this coming season.

I think this is vital as the team we have now is upper midtable quality give or take a striker.

The money must be spent in the following ways first:

Laville: Signed
Andre: Signed if the price is right
Mendy: Ditto

Ballesta? I'd love to have seen him play more but I guess he's played his last for Bolton.

The priority is a striker and I'll be interested to see what Sam can do. If he can weave his magic yet again and bring someone of real quality to the club I reckon we could do an Everton and challenge for a European place next season.

Opinions?

What about Campo? He's on loan too right? When's his contract up at Real? It's not like he's getting into the team there any time soon. Yeah, it'd be great if we could get Mendy, but it's not likely right?

I forgot about Campo, yeah his contract is up on Jun 30th so if he wants to stay he'll sign on July 1st. There's no extra money involved.

As for Mendy I don't think we'll be able to afford him, apparently his club wanted £5 million last summer and I doubt they want much less now. They'd have to knock it down to £1 million for us to get him and even then it'd be a stretch.

Any chance at Kevin Phillips? from Sunderland? Sky linked him to Middlesborough but honestly I'd like my chances at Bolton better with their midfield.

Do you see Campo staying? Has he said as much. He's one reason I like watching Bolton games.

Campo said earlier in the season that he likes it at Bolton and would love to stay if we're still in the Premiership. The only thing is he needs another Spaniard at the club because he feels a bit lonely (awww )

As for Phillips I'm not sure, dare I say I think he's past it. If we had a bit of money I think he'd be worth the risk but that's not the case and every signing must count. Boro made a mistake with Ricketts because they're not a team that make a load of chances, as you rightly pointed out they could repeat that mistake with Phillips.

Rumours about Agahowa coming to Bolton have been circulating for about 8 months now, he's a good friend of Jay Jay and I think if we can afford him he'll be playing for us next season.

The problem is I don't think we can afford him.

Batistuta only wants to go to a London club so he's out of the equation and I think Phillips is too expensive.

Out of the three I think Agahowa is the most likely to sign for the Wanderers but there's also been rumours about some out of favour strikers ad juve and Inter...

Do the Bolton fans want Campo back? Does Sam want him?

I've enjoyed watching Bolton this season because they do have some nice talent and the team has a unique personality; but I must admit that one of the top reasons I tune in for them is to laugh at Campo. He has to be the most comically useless player in the league, wouldn't you say?

He certainly earns his nickname of 'The Clown.' Everything's a pratfall. Which is highly entertaining for me, but it can't always be much fun for the Bolton faithful.

To the fans & the club, what are the chief virtues of keeping Campo in the regular lineup? What quality does he bring to the club, besides comic relief?

Campo was comically useless at centre back, he was too slow and wanted too much time on the ball however as the anchor man in front of the back for he became extremely effective in breaking up opposition attacks. I think this 'Comical Campo' thing helped us towards the end of the season as successive teams underestimated his ability. He's much better than people give him credit for. Some big name European manager who's name escapes me has already said it was a master stroke by big Sam to move Campo into midfield. While he was there, along with Laville in the back four, we kept 5 or 6 clean sheets in 12 games and lost just 2 of them.

The fans do want him to stay.
