Will be released any minute. Mr. Beckhams first away match should be against Toronto FC on Aug. 05. LA hits every market for a league match except Dallas (SuperLiga)...and that includes an away derby vs Chivas USA.

Major League Soccer Unveils 2007 Regular Season

    and National Broadcast Schedules

Networks combine to air 113 games, including MLS Primetime Thursday on ESPN2

NEW YORK (Tuesday, February 6, 2007) – Major League Soccer, together with its national television partners – ABC, ESPN, Univision, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Español and HDNet – today unveiled its 2007 regular season schedule. In the League’s 12th season, each of the 13 clubs will play 30 regular season games, for a total of 195 matches from April 7 to Oct. 21. The season kicks off April 7, live on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET, when four-time MLS champion D.C. United visit the Colorado Rapids in their brand new stadium, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park . The 2007 season will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 18 with MLS Cup 2007, live on ABC from RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. at noon ET.

The 2007 MLS season will feature the most comprehensive national television schedule in League history, with a total of 113 live matches. Fans will find it easier than ever to follow their favorite teams and players as each of the four national broadcast networks has anchored its live broadcasts on a certain night of the week, providing destination viewing for all sports fans. Throughout the season ESPN2 will broadcast “MLS Primetime Thursday,” while Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Español and HDNet will each air an MLS match on Saturdays. Univision’s family of networks, which includes TeleFutura and Galavisión, will air MLS matches on Sundays.

Also for the first time in League history, every regular season game will be televised, either through national or regional broadcasts. The entire MLS schedule, including individual team schedules, is available at www.MLSnet.com

A linchpin of this year’s television schedule is “MLS Primetime Thursdays” on ESPN2, consisting of 29 live broadcasts, including three MLS Cup Playoff matches and the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game on July 19 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The MLS All-Stars will take on Celtic FC of Scotland in a 2.5-hour programming window. The April 12 and Oct. 18 MLS Primetime Thursday broadcasts will also feature an extra 30 minutes of coverage, as will the two ABC broadcasts and the three playoff games on ESPN2. An additional MLS broadcast on the ESPN networks will be determined at a later date.

MLS action returns to the Univision family of networks in 2007 with 25 Sunday broadcasts, 22 on TeleFutura and three on Galavisión during the regular season. Viewers will note that the Sunday lineup focuses on the MLS teams from the largest Hispanic markets in the United States . Playoff games that will air on the Univision networks will be announced at a later date.

Fox Soccer Channel will broadcast 28 regular season games, each one in a three-hour programming window entitled “MLS Saturday on FSC.” Fox Soccer Channel’s on-site coverage will include MLS’s first-ever 30-minute pre-game show and 30-minute post-game show; all Fox Soccer Channel MLS games will also air in Spanish in two-hour programming windows on sister network Fox Sports en Español, the largest Spanish-language all-sports network in the U.S. The two Fox networks also will carry three MLS Cup Playoff games.

HDNet, the first all-high definition national television network, begins its fifth season of MLS coverage in HD, airing 31 regular season games in high-definition, 27 of them on Saturday nights. HDNet’s coverage will extend into the playoffs, with specific games to be announced at a later date.

With Toronto FC joining the Eastern Conference as the first MLS team based outside the United States , each MLS team will play two games against the other 12 teams, one home, one away, accounting for 24 games of the season. The remaining six games are played against intra-conference foes.

The complete 2007 Major League Soccer regular season schedule follows, with all national broadcasts noted. For individual team schedules log onto MLSnet.com.

Am thrilled about fewer afternoon games in the summer.

Although DC at KC on July 4th at 1PM will be a scorcher--and what's the point if no fireworks????

Wow. Is it me or is the Galaxy's schedule kinda whacked?

I guess 4 games in 5 weeks isn't that strange, it just seems like it.

The KC Royals are playing Seattle at 7pm that night, so a night game at Arrowhead is out of the question (Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium share a parking lot).

I'm a little surprised they couldn't get the Wizards out of town for that date. But it could make for a soccer/tailgating/baseball/fireworks quadruple-header, if the weather isn't too hot. Sometimes, July 4 is 82 degrees in KC, and sometimes it's 95.

Am I the only one who still sees the old schedule on both the teams' and mlsnet.com?

All but two of LA's games from 8/5 (at Toronto - 8/5, and vs. Houston - 9/16) are nationally televised.

Galaxy season ticket holders get 7 games of him (assuming he doesn't start until August and doesn't get hurt) + SuperLiga (potentially) and USOC (potentially).

Hmm, did I miss it or is there no word on the ESPN2 games being shown in HD?

I love what they did with the schedule. I like thatthey have games through out the week. Saturday nights are hard for me to get off work but any other day is easy, so I can actually go to some games this year. I love that the REVS play 3 home Sunday games. I can't wait.

I didn't see anything about ESPN2 HD. Would be nice, though. Maybe ESPN will pony up but I doubt it.

HD coverage on ESPN2 would be great.

i'll wait for a later announcement on that and on the return (and cost) of mlslive.tv streams in 2007.

don't know if i should be hopeful on either of those fronts.

Looks like they did a good job of doubling up the Thursday night teams with games on Sunday. I know all four time Houston plays on Thursday they follow that with a Sunday game.

Of the 46 teams that play on a Thursday night, 31 one of them play the following Sunday. That really reduced the need for Wednesday games.

Are they still gonna have Direct Kick? It seems I can get all these tv games except HDNet. I don't have HD yet:(

I think I saw last year that it was released close to the season opener.

Kinda miffed about this as a DC fan - only 20 percent of all MLS games will be played on a Wednesday or Thursday, but 40 percent of DC home games will be.

Although now that I think about it, I'm including Interliga and concacaf champions cup in my DC numbers. Once we see where open cup games and mid-summer exhibitions get slotted, maybe it will even out for everyone.

OTOH as a DC fan I'm feeling fortunate that we're scheduled for 2 home/1 away with the Fire, RedBulls, and Revs and 1 home/2 away with the Wizards, Crew, and Toronto.

This is a "disadvantage", but I can foresee having quite a bit of away "support", kinda like Chivas gets in the Mexico-heavy markets.

    'Cept more. :D

People will come out to see Becks in huge numbers but they will likely still cheer for their home side. Comparing the Chivas away support to people coming out to watch Becks is apples and oranges IMO.

The Becks deal is not any different than people buying tickets to see Kobe play in DC but still rooting for the Wizards to win.

Gotta get Cablevision to add the channel first. :(

Hopefully the ABC games are in HD.
