Default Where can I get an used copy of Microsoft Word?

My new computer with XP Home Edition comes with Works but not Word, just Word Pad. Need Word to send resumes out mostly. I can create them in Word Perfect just fine, but can't assume that anywhere I send them to will be able to convert it.

Now, I understand that Office XP has a new security feature so there's only one license per "Home" user That sucks 'cuz I don't wanna pay $300 for Word. I'll take Word 2000, or even 98 if I get real desparate.

Any suggestions besides E Bay or see if I can mooch a license off work somehow are appreciated.

I think WP can save in rtf. I'll have to test it tonight.

Currently, my Word Pad: one line in my resume has to be off centered when you open it to print correctly formatted for some reason I can't figure out. I'll work on it tonight. Suggestion appreciated.

You can probably get Word on eBay for cheap.

It's very likely you'll lose formatting by trying to use RTF. You might also try a different app, like 602Pro PC Suite 2001, which I found on download.com the other day.

The site is http://www.software602.com/ and the download link is on the http://www.software602.com/download/ page, the one that's 16.3 MB. It's worth a shot, anyhow.

You can get Office XP Student & Teacher edition for a little over $100, I think. It's the same package as the basic Office XP (no MS Access). And you don't have to prove you are a student or a teacher. Why anyone would get the other version, I have no idea.

Okay, I just looked it up. Apparently, if you buy this version, you can't upgrade it later.
