Hey, guys, nice show as always.

So, mixing up the music a little bit while still obeying the people's mandate! Nice. Maybe you did it just to see if we'd notice?

One thing -- I missed the bit about Barnsley at the beginning and had to rewind because the music was still fading out. I guess I'm not a multi-tasker.

If you don't mind my mentioning the "competition", this is something I don't like about the Beautiful Game podcast -- they play music on low level as they run through results, a la Sportscenter, as if we'll get distracted or bored if there aren't several things going on at once. That, and they took about two months off for the holiday and seemed to lose interest.

Sorry for the nitpicking -- I'm interested in podcasting as a medium, not just as a source for news on soccer/football, and I think you guys have a good thing going.

While I'm at it allow me to mention some other football podcasts and why I've never discarded SS as my main one:

World Soccer Daily -- Oh, good God, don't get me started on why I don't listen to this anymore.

Two G's -- Last time I listened to this (end of last summer), the audio quality was atrocious and basically unlistenable.

EPL Talk -- Nice interviews (some present company included), but the Gaffer needs to work on his interview style IMO (he replies to every answer with "OK, excellent" or some such filler) and needs some compression or something to cap off the top end; that makes it hard to listen to sometimes. And that reverbed intro ("The Gaffer!!!....") makes me laugh out loud.

606 with Somebody and the Guardian weekly podcast are not really competition, because they occur much less frequently and they have many more resources at hand. Like PTI!

Why do you guys get it right? Your rapport shows through, you don't try to shock for shock's sake, and the audio quality is very good for a home job. You don't seem to do a lot of post-production that would make the final version sound artificial (you leave in some funny awkward pauses or memory lapses). Keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback. I jumped on here to say "Oops...I was playing around with the audio and it's a bit nasty".

I just need to shorten the intro and make it a bit quieter when we're talking, and also bring it up more slowly (and also keep the volume down) during the play-out.

I finally got the instrumental version of the song from Bill McGarvey, which is why the intro sounds a bit different. The previous version has a loop of a couple of bars.

And so many people liked hearing the song that I thought I'd play a bit more of it at the end.

I personally don't listen to any other footy podcasts but EPL Talk.

Anything that's "here's a weekly update of what happened" is just so out-of-date that it's boring to me (but fine if you're a casual fan who just wants a once-a-week commitment).

Anything that's a 2 hour radio show I don't have the time. Plus...doing the podcast is a little bit like being a chef - I'm not hungry when I get home.

EPL Talk is genuinely interesting to me because I have an interest in the people he has on. He's getting some really great guests recently. You wouldn't know them if you're not in the UK, but the last few are the heavy hitters from newspapers.

I did like the Guardian one because the presenters are very good, but again I rarely find myself playing it because I'm just over-loaded with footy.
