Hey guys... I have a small favor to ask of you all...

I want to learn more about the french national team and the biggest thing I want to know is if you could select the best possible 28 man roster, who would be on it?

I play and edit fifa '06 for my PC and I want to edit my french team to be as realistic as possible. I thought that the best people to ask would be the French Fans themselves and Bigsoccer has the best.

If you decide to reply please give me your roster like this...

    List your starting 11.
List their 11 back ups as well as a 3rd goalkeepers.
Then list the next 5 best french players you would use as alternates.

Please don't list any more than three keepers though.

Also only list players that are currently active internationally... for instance Zidane shouldn't be listed since he has retired.

Thanks for all the replies ... have a good one.

It might have been easier to give it to you by positions, but you’re the boss !

    Starters
    Henry-Anelka
    Malouda-Vieira-Makalélé-Ribéry
    Abidal-Gallas-Thuram-Sagnol
    Coupet

    Backups
    Cissé-Saha
    Bodmer-Diarra-Mavuba-Wiltord
    Evra-Méxès-Squillaci-Réveillère
    Landreau

    Alternates
    Trézeguet (S)
    Govou (MO)
    Toulalan (MD)
    Clerc (D)
    Janot (GK)

no surprises except perhaps Bodmer and Janot.. but for me the surprise is that neither has been capped yet, they're both tearing up the league. a last note about two players, malouda and clerc: you can put either of them about anywhere on the field, malouda on the left, clerc on the right, which can be very handy.

Yes Bodmer should have a future with les bleus. He's apparently perked the intersts of Man Utd as well, a good replacement for that aging midfield of theirs. As much as i dont like Man u its always nice to see frenchmen feature in the successful clubs.

thats assuming that domenech is right 100% of the time, which i think we can all agree is hardly the case.

besides those are my backups. my starting 11 is the same as yours. and yes, i know you hate Barthez but i would still pick him over Landreau, and Giuly, well he never got a fair shake. Pires is a legend at Arsenal and was only left off the team by Raymond because he's a scorpio!

For Giuly I'm sure he still get a place instead of Govou or Wiltord. It's a personal case with Domenech. The stability of the group is primordial. But Pirès... He's absolutely finished ! 33 years old, didn't play since 6 months, and how could he take Malouda's place right now ?

i dont know about finished. Vieira is still going strong for Les Bleus and he was being called washed up before the world cup. as a back up for malouda he's still a winner in my book.

but dont trust me, trust the arsenal fans who want him back:

Well, I'm not a Vieira fan. Sure he is an excellent midfield but he didn't really convinced me neither before the WC or after. I find him too... violent, I don't know. I'd rather see a pair Makélélé-Toulalan.

Vieira is a true midfield marshal who commands respect from anyone who plays against him. He had a quiet world cup, but ever since he's been giving the armband, its the best ive ever seen him play in blue.

yes i was tempted by benzema too... and in a recent interview in onze mondial thierry praised him twice... not in response to a question, he brought him up unprovoked. he seemed very impressed.

    Not really.

I think that Coupet is one of the best goalkeeper in France but he's 34 and I really want Domenech to select a younger goalkeeper.

As you see I'm a fan of PSG but I don't want Landreau to be the number one, and for me Pelé of Le Mans will be the best goalkeeper in Europe.

    Needing a French goalkeeper ?

Frey, Pelé, Lloris, Richert, Bracigliano, Pouplin, Mandanda, Itandje, Douchez, Sorin, Riou... Make your choice ! :D

My favorite is Jeremie Janot ! ;)

your starting pair of strikers would be very interesting to see... it's clear that titi himself is very high on benzema!

Thanks everyone who responded... I normally like to start these threads and just give them time to breathe b4 I say anything else... It makes for the best responces when the fans can just discuss things amongst themselves without interuption especially with the big Euro teams.

I have to say, absolutely no disappointment here... You guys responded perfectly and really gave me a lot to work with. Especially adding in new young talent and give me the breakdown in formation so I know exactly where these guys play if I don't know anything about them.

Thanks a ton guys, can't thank you enough.
