This can't answer your many questions but it does have some info you may find helpful when you get there..It has some phone numbers too..And it's an interesting site anyway.. It does have some Hotel info on the bottom of the Reading page..
Click on Reading when you get to the site.. The site is in frames so I can't link directly to the Reading page..

Most of the locals are sleeping now.. You'll get some good info later..

Get a member card (apply at link at end of post), it cost 10 pounds, which is about $20. Tickets are given out based on royalty points, which you can gain by going to matches. The bigger the match, the more likely you are to need a lot of them, because people with more royalty points will be given priority. You'll have a much better chance of going to a match with a team like Watford or Wigan or Sheffield United than Chelsea or Manchester United. Go to more "small" matches, and then you'll have a better chance of eventually being able to go to bigger ones.

Flights go to London quite regularly, so just search the interweb for tickets after you've gotten match tickets.

Question Re: Viewing Locations

Happens that on April 7 my family will be visiting a little town called London that's not far from Reading (Liverpool @ home). No time to build the necessary royalty points. Dreamed that I could get lucky and find tickets on the web, but !!!

http://www.ticketsolutions.co.uk/order.php?event_id=969
As we are a ticket broker, the prices we charge for tickets does not reflect the original face value of the ticket.
(Face value for this event is approx from £30-£75)
East/West Stand Price: £175.00 each

If Madjeski is not an option, any other recommended viewing locations?

You can probably find some people selling tickets outside. Will probably be for a lot, though. I don't know much about how things have been since the crowds got big.

Just a tip for everyone without many royalty points, it is a good idea to try and go to away games as far from Reading as possible. The away end rarely seems full if its outside of London or a big team.

I'll be over during that week too. I'm staying in Acton at a Ramada w/ my son. We may be looking for a local pitch to kick it around as well. My Google Earth tells me there are several pitches and a park within walking distance.

We're going to the Fulham v ManCity game and I'm debating whether to go see West Ham or see the Chelsea v Tottenham game. I am not sure about getting tickets. I've always been able to buy them outside. In fact I had a small sign "Need tickets" at a West Brom v Liverpool game last March.
