What is the timeline for Kitson's return now that he's training with the first team again? If it is relatively soonish, and we do get Johnson, could we loan him out? Or maybe loan Long out?

oh yeah i would be also interested to know how much he is gonna cost. any ball park figures?

Seeing that it's Reading and not some big soccer/football club, more likely less than what Benfica offered for him couple seasons ago.

The big question is rather MLS will allow Johnson to go if Reading offers him a contract.

In a heartbeat. The longer he stays and sulks in MLS, the fewer clubs will express and interest in him. Given his performance this season and his recent suspension, MLS should be grateful any club has shown an interest in him.

They really want to loan out long, find him a spot where he'd start every week. They've talked about that a couple times. Also, this week, theynoted that it's not fair to expect him to play week in, week out, at a prem level, this early in his career.

I'd agree. I think he will be very good for us in the future, but he's just not quite ready..he is only 19, after all. Would love to see him get consistent playing time in the Championship or something. I know Cardiff, who is top of the table, have some injury problems and went after Smith from United but Smith wouldn't go. Maybe they'd be interested in Long?

people also tend to forget that I think he only made one senior appearence for Cork. The game v Arsenal was only his third start in a league game in his whole career - the other for Reading being in the strange match at the end of last season, when Coppell dropped most of the players and gave the fringe players a go.

Johnson's 23, not 19, btw.

As far as what to expect, I'd say he has more skill than Convey, but more of an ego, too. When he's fit and in the right frame of mind he can do some things.

In WC Qualification he scored something like 7 goals in 7 games. Of course that's against the likes of Honduras, Guatemala, etc. I think he's been among the top scorers in MLS only a couple of times, but that's also due to missing time for injuries, national team call-ups and youth NT call-ups.
