Default The Value of Staying Up: $94m minimum

BBC rumors today:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...rs/6153278.stm
Towards the bottom. Higher up is a bit on one potential US target Dempsey, and a Fulham bid.
But the important thing is the number, pds 50m. Wow.
So, what this seems to mean, to me, is we need to be willing to splash a bit in January. No chances, that sort of thing.

Clubs promoted to the Premiership in May will be guaranteed a windfall of £50m. (The Sun)
Is this for clubs promoted this past May or this coming May? Is this in place of or in addition to what teams in the league receive from TV, etc.?

Thanks

it means "it'll be an even greater prize for clubs going up as they'll get £50 million next season".

For comparison, that's around 100 times what CCC clubs get.

I thought this item at the bottom was funny.

"Stuart Pearce's technical area has been replaced with artificial grass, after the Manchester City manager wore it out. "

That is big time money. It definitely is a big balancing game. Spend enough to insure that Reading stay up, but not too much that it weakens the team's future or bankrupts them if they go down.

I think the team will be in spending mode, anywhere from 2-5 million. Just a guess though.

If they're around 25 points by the time the window opens (which IMO will be on the low end, high end 33), they may spend more than twice that much. they were willing to put out pds 10m this summer, on zero points, dead even with every team in the prem. Now, with six points on the relegation zone, it seems like a really smart investment. If they push that to nine or more, it will be a snip.

Yep, just with the guys that have been rumored (Mensah, Fae, Kilgallon, Johnson), 10 million is a good possiblity. And it would definately be a good investment.
