Matchday 13: BVB v Hertha BSC Berlin [R]
All, this is the match that will show us whether the win in Bremen was truly a huge step in the right direction or just a one-time thing.
We've traditionally smacked Hertha around at the Westfalenstadion, but with our crappy home performances this season, anything can happen.
However, I will not lie. I'm looking for a nice BVB win......

Re: Matchday 13: BVB v Hertha BSC Berlin
Bring 'em on! I am confident about this one..Strange as it may seem, but I haven't been this confident since the game against Mainz....and Hertha are no Mainz...
Hope Tinga and Sahin do well again. This would be a nice pairing for a few seasons if it can carry on from Bremen. The old man and the kid...Sensei and the grasshopper...I like it!
Also if Frei and Valdez can keep it up our deficiencies in front of goal will be a thing of the past.
Speaking of a thing of the past, what's happened to Amoah? He riding the bench? He hurt? He playing in the reserves?
Also has anyone been keeping tabs on Buckley in Switzerland? Has anyone seen how he's doing?

Hertha are better than Mainz. Mainz are the worst team in the league right now. Hertha will give us the type of battle Mainz gave us though. However, I think we'll win.
Why? This season has been crazy. Except for Bayern, we've beaten or drawn the teams people thought would beat us (Stuttgart, Nuernberg, Bremen)

Yes, I think Tinga had something to do with Sahin's nice match, but I think more of it had to do with this team's coming together as a whole. It seems they are finally learning to play for one another. And the one guy who always seemed like he isn't with that program is still on the bench. Albeit injured, but he may not see the pitch when he's healthy again.
I'm referring to Degen. BvM had to bench his ass for weeks last season before he got the message. That may have to happen again. To be honest, I'm all for looking for a replacement. The best thing Degen has ever done for BVB so far has been to help lure Frei to Dortmund.

I won't say that until Valdez gets one himself and they start scoring more consistently. It's not like we had this great offensive display in Bremen. We just outworked them. Plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

Amoah comes off the bench. Bremen was only his second match back from injury. And why do you call him "a thing of the past?"
Amoah wasn't brought here to be a major player. He was brought in to fill a void when we only had one healthy striker last season (Smolarek) and Smolarek was in a funk like no one had ever seen.
Amoah was brought in to be a supporting player. More of a midfield/striker backup. And that's just what he's doing. He's great to bring off the bench after about 70-75 minutes.
I believe he'll get a few goals for us this season.

Not anyone I know. All I know is that KC on the list (He used to work in Switzerland) said that a friend of his in Basel says Buckley is a waste. I would not expect to see him in the BVB shirt again.
As a matter of fact, since I've been rooting for BVB, the only player I can ever remember actually coming back after a loan deal is Kringe.
And I doubt he would have been brought back had he not had one outstanding match against us at the Westfalenstadion.
Sammer was just not into young players he had to develop.
Simply because he didn't know how to.
Even Metzelder credited Kohler for his development, not Sammer......

Footyfan one off topic question for you, I know you support BVB and I know 1FCN, since you lived around Nürnberg, but how come MU and Barca is on your favorit club’s list, I mean do you just like them or really support them? Otherwise good luck to BVB, it was an impressive win over Werder, and hopefully it’s a turning point of the season just like for Bayern after the Levekusen win

I never mind answering that type of question. However, be advised that I believe there is a huge difference between a "supporter" and a "fan".
I "support" Man U. because I was a huge fan of Eric Cantona and my interaction with their fans in the early 90s and later. I consider myself a real Man U. supporter.
I really like Barca, but cannot call myself a "supporter". But I also consider myself more than a "casual fan" of theirs.
The only club I'm truly "fanatic" about is BVB. I cheer for no one above BVB or on par with BVB. Man U. is the closest thing, but they don't touch BVB with me.
I "like" quite a few clubs throughout Europe. However, I don't call myself a "supporter" or a true "fan" of all of them. I just like them.
And honestly, about the only club I truly dislike mainly because I'm a BVB fan is Schalke 04.
I've only switched allegiances once in my life. That was when I discovered what Bayern is really all about. I was so disgusted, I didn't care what people would say about my switching allegiances.
Believe me, BVB have infuriated me enough in the past to really think about going out and finding a new club, but I didn't. I'm still with BVB and I think I'm going to with BVB for the rest of my life.
I liken it to a man's life with a woman. In a real loving relationship or marriage a man devotes himself to his wife and his family.
But that doesn't stop him from admiring others........
Just ask Bill Clinton! LOL!!

Re: Matchday 13: BVB v Hertha BSC Berlin
Thanks footy, yeah I had injected in me the Bayern blood from my grandfather who was from Bavaria when I was.. let’s see maybe 6, and ever since the only team I have is Bayern, but I do sympathize with my now ex girlfriend’s team Celtic, she is from Glasgow and I had the opportunity to go to CelticPark, and Pisa from Italy…
Anyways good luck Saturday with Hertha

Unfortunately I won't make it to Dortmund this weekend :-(. Anyway, I try to catch BVB's Amateurs here in Berlin at Union and then speed back to my favourite BVB sports bar.

Re: Matchday 13: BVB v Hertha BSC Berlin
I'm expecting a heavy loss despite what Keith says
Our away form has been atrocious for the most part, if we get a pt. in this match, I will be most happy.
