Even though Convey's had 3 assists (well 2 really) in games, I have to agree with you. But Convey was playing hurt during those 8 games. I remember wondering why he wasn't taking free kicks & corners. Hunt is a solid player, who never gives up, always goes hard, and does very well working the ball in the area between the side lines and the outside of the 18 yard box. I just don't think he has the vision and overall skills (particularly his final pass) that Convey does.

Convey, at his best, is better than Hunt, at his best. But it's not a huge gap, and if Reading continue this winning streak until Convey is back playing...wow, would that be great, or what? We'd be solidly in a CL position, very much odds on for a uefa spot, and ab sure of prem footie next year, just wow..what is the topic, again?
Not sure about Gunn, but everyone else who was removed from the lineup was injured at exactly the moment to avoid a decision. All part of a magical season. Convey will have to play his way back in. I do believe he'll be given the chance, but Hunty has been pretty good a couple times recently. He's not simply a hustler, he's a high class hustler to the stars. ( He really does work himself into the ground). I like him as a late game player better, because he is annoying when an oppossing player is tired, and he's fresh. But after a couple months out, I'll guess that both convey and kits (who is far more sorely missed) have to work their way back in.

clearly Convey is first choice and Hunt isn't. I don't think there's any real debate there. Hunt is a better option than a 60-70% fit Convey though, which is probably why the club are happy for him to have surgery rather than continue playing at 60-70%.

I doubt he'll get straight back into the team immediately though. After all, he'll have only played one match in 3 months or so, so easing him back is more likely.

I think Stevie Coppell would be quite happy with securing EPL football tbh. That's hard enough. CL might be a bit of a stretch in the first year with the squad you've got.

So would I, and every Reading fan. I was just tossing out a hypothetical, if the winning streak continues until Convey returns, and then noting that would be another seven games, 21 points, meaning 46 by early january...
If Reading are on 46 by then, they will be thinking about europe, and rightfully so.
Not saying there's more than a snowballs chance in hell of extending four to 11 wins in a row, just saying...

Meanwhile, injured stars Dave Kitson (appendix) and Bobby Convey (knee) have returned to light training.

USA international Convey had hoped to return to the first-team squad by the end of the year.

Coppell said: “Bobby’s making steady progress and he was jogging this morning with Kits.

“It was good for us to see them, but we can’t rush these things, especially with no reserve games at this time of year.”

After watching Steven hunt in person and seeing the complete lack of talent the man has Reading needs Bobby back on the field.

I don't think Hunt is that bad, but he is not near Convey's quality. I think that Convey's absence is a big part of why Reading isn't scoring like they did last season.
