Default Matchday 9: 1. FC Nürnberg v. BVB [R]

Well, as most of you know, BVB has lost the German Cup match with Hannover 96. As of right now, BvM is still coach and we have to get ready to go visit UNDEFEATED 1. FC Nürnberg.

While they are undefeated, 1. FC Nürnberg are also even on points with us (12) and are sitting in our "mangagement imposed season minimum goal" of fifth place in the Bundesliga table.

1. FC Nürnberg are at a +4 goal difference with 10 goal for and 6 against. We sit in seventh place with a +1 goal difference with 11 goals scored and 10 against.

Aachen sits between the two clubs with a +2 goal difference at 14 goals for and 12 against.

As some of you might recall, we won in Nürnberg last season through goals by one player who is no longer with us (Odonkor) and one player who I don't believe has seen 30 Bundesliga minutes this season (Sahin).

I know I would like to see us end 1. FC Nürnberg's undefeated run as I'll be at the Frankenstadion cheering our guys on.

We got a great deal for him, but I think this team misses Odonkor and I know I'd like to see BvM sit Pienaar's sorry ass down for one match. Doesn't have to be Sahin to replace him. Could be Amoah.

Maybe some time on the bench to cool off will help Pienaar, who a friend of mine who was at the Hannover match called "F#cking Worthless!"

Of course the difference between us last season and 1. FC Nürnberg last season is that 1. FC Nürnberg actually addressed their field leadership problem, bringing in former Czech captain Tomas Galasek, who has actually boosted the play of his comrade, Jan Polak, who FCN fans thought was a "fehleinkauf" (bad buy) after his performance last season.

BVB would have never made such a move. Why? Apparently, anyone over 29 is "too old" to bring in as a new player. And we're suffering the woes of a team with no leader, no team spirit and no experience on the bench to relieve the underperformers.

BVB management can learn a lesson from 1. FC Nürnberg's managment.

The match? I'm hoping we can pull off a win, but I'll be happy with a draw here. 1. FC Nürnberg are playing some decent football and they play as a team. They will be hard to beat.

I will cheer my lungs out for BVB while more than likely wearing a 1. FC Nürnberg scarf under my shirt.

Why? 1. FC Nürnberg still has a piece of my heart after having been my "local team" for almost 15 years. While we were winning titles and the European Cup, I also suffered in the Regionalliga South and the 2. Liga with the FCN fans.

Yes, I know about their friendship with Scheisse and it doesn't concern me. There are quite a few 1. FC Nürnberg fans who like and "support" BVB because of their hatred for FC Bayern.

More FCN fans hate us not because of their friendship with Scheisse, but because of the final day of the 1994 season.

We beat FCN 4-0 at the Westfalenstadion to relegate FCN to the 2. Liga. While many of the FCN fans cried in the Nordtribune, many BVB fans rushed across the pitch and around the stadium to mock them.

I've spent many years apologizing for that though I wasn't there.......

In closing, I just want to see our guys fight and fight hard. Win or lose, goddamnit just FIGHT!!!

I want to be in a good mood when I meet "Borussia" after the match for a few pints at Finnegan's Irish Pub in the city.

I think anyone in Nürnberg for the match that day is welcome to join us. Of course, you will have to buy your own beer! LOL!!

Perhaps both of us will be in a bad mood when we meet ... however, we are going to cheer up with a few pints of Guinness, don't we?

This game should be a special one for you, Keith. In case of defeat, you have lost to your 2nd fav BL team at least:-)

I expect a very close game (Nuremberg is keen on winning a BL match after 5 draws in a row) and think that all is possible in a sold out "easy credit" stadium.

I'm always angry after a BVB loss or disappointing performance. No matter who it's against. I'm just not 'as angry' when the opposition is FCN! LOL!!

Well, I'm hoping the BVB players aren't just talking shit again when they say they "learned something" about how they have to play in the Tuesday defeat to Hannover. All they've done this season is talk, talk, talk! Even Zorc said he's tired of their 'talk'.

Let's see if they finally back up the shit they're talking.

This afternoon I'm trying to get a ticket for the game, Keith (I hope there will be some free space in the Südkurve). Did I tell you that my brother & a few friends are Nuremberg fans?

Good to hear that BvM won't get fired in case of a defeat.

Not a surprise. Anyone from Franken either knows someone or is related to someone who is a FCN fan.

He's been given a strong vote of confidence following talks with management. The players backed him too. I'm not sure if it's posted yet, but I translated the story last night for the English page at the Offical BVB Site. Of course the story in German can be found on the German page.

Hi Keith,

I've got the ticket!!!

I'm going to send you a SMS this morning in order to clear the time & location for our meeting. Maybe we'll welcome a female BVB fan, too...

CU later.

Ciao

PS: Is it true that Nuremberg didn't manage to beat you at home since 1992?

Ciao
I'll be in block 24, row 22, seat 45. No time to scan my ticket as it's 0830 and I'm about to depart Garmisch for Erlangen now.

I'm surprised to see that nobody except for me & Keith seems to be interested in this game...

Nice to have met you yesterday, Keith! I hope you arrived well back at home to Garmisch.

Here a few pics taken during & after the game in Nürnberg. Anybody knows the guys on the right? :-)
