England - Turkey [R]
From Football365.com:
Quote:
England could change their midfield formation against Turkey on Wednesday night – bringing in Nicky Butt at the expense of Kieron Dyer.
Reports suggest that Sven-Goran Eriksson will experiment with a diamond formation, pushing Paul Scholes further up field and moving Steven Gerrard towards the left flank.
|
I like this change. Anything to let Scholes roam up in support, knowing that Nicky Butt is back on defence is good news. It's both more cautious having Butt on defence and not Scholes and Gerrard having to keep dropping back, but free's up one of the two, and Scholes has good experience playing the slot position behind a striker. I say this because Heskey doesn't really count.
Just kidding, he did well against Lichtenstein....once Becks sent him through with a delightful chip....and don't get me started on that free kick...

Don't expect that 5Live feed to work for the game if you're listening in the US, Saturday's game was blocked, although the first half of the Australia game was broadcast before they blocked it so maybe you'll be in luck.

Thats right. Some pathetic legal issues. Maybe whoever has the TV rights to the games has specified no radio aswell.
On a lighter note my local football pub has bowed to my requests to show the game and I've just got off the phone with my boss and agreed a half day. Beer and England in 2 hours time. I've even got my England shirt on.

Just heard that Rooney is in for Heskey. Dyer also dropped with Butt playing the holding role and Scholes in attacking midfield position. Gerrard on the left, Becks on the right, Owen and Rooney up top.
I like it....
Only problem is Calamity is still in the nets...
