Robbie SAVAGes England
ROBBIE SAVAGE has once again endeared himself to the English public by declaring that Wales are a better team than England. Savage has been instrumental in helping Mark Hughes' side maintain their 100 per cent record in Group Nine, whilst Sven-Goran Eriksson's England finally got their Euro 2004 campaign back on track with a win over Liechtenstein at the weekend. The Birmingham terrier now believes that the Welsh Dragons command greater respect in the international arena than their English counter-parts, due to their unbeaten run that now spans 18 months. Savage roared: "I definitely think I play for the best team in Britain. "Results show that we are better than England and I honestly believe we could beat them. "It is my dream to go out against them at the Millennium Stadium, although I would fancy us against them anywhere." Wales are in pole position in Group nine, ahead of favourites Italy and could reach their first major championships since 1958, while England are trying to recover from their stuttering start that saw them held at home by lowly Macedonia."Mark Hughes has got us believing we can beat any team out there and we really look forward to every match," added Savage."Every game is a further chance to increase our standing in international football and prove how good this squad is."

Sinner, Wales with their population of 3 million has beat some very good teams. They have a smaller player pool to pick from and have done very will with it.

Perhaps Savage is going over the top, but it isn't just Italy that we have beaten, there are plently of other scalps. Admittedly Wales have not performed since 58, we came very close in 94, but hopefully we can make up for it now.

The Welsh would be nothing without the English league though would it ?
Savage likes to rattle cages and he does it very well - i'd much prefer to have our players to pick from than those available to Wales.
BTW - Mark Hughes - a managerial great in the making imo - but he'll leave Wales to get his true recognition i bet.
