Well, after the massively disappointing performance in Gladbach, how will this BVB team bounce back in front of a Westfalenstadion crowd who will be demanding a top notch performance from them?

I guess I'll be putting a poll with this one.

What I'm interested in is how will BvM react if the team puts in another disappointing performance?

I really think the guy will consider resigning. He doesn't seem to be the type of guy who will stick around if he isn't getting through to his team.

And I still believe this team's substandard performances are not his fault, but theirs and with everything that's gone around about this "bitch session" they had on Saturday, the players seem to know they are the problem.

I didn't think this BVB season would turn into a soap opera, but it seems that's where it is right now. I expected the soap opera thing more of FC Bayern.......


Our opponents:

Hannover are coming in on an emotional high for all the wrong reasons. They have banded around their goalkeeper Robert Enke, who tragically lost his baby daughter to a heart ailment about a week ago.

Hannover striker Thomas Brdaric seems to be in form and that's bad news for us. Wherever he's played, when he's been on form, he's scored against us.

Hannover fought themselves to a 1-1 draw against a suddenly slumping Bayer Leverkusen team at home last weekend.

Remember, Hannover beat us 2-0 at home last season and will be confident they can repat the feat, especially after seeing how pathetic our attack looked in Gladbach.

Alexander Frei (27) angrily thrashes the ball into the net. First with the right foot, then the left. The sheer force of his shots shake the goal frame and for a moment, you worry that he might tear the netting at the training grounds in Dortmund-Brackel. Frei is putting his frustration and rage of recent days into these shots (I hope he saves some of that for tomorrow night!) Frei will play against Hannover on Friday with this fire in his belly. He has not yet forgiven himself for the two chances he let slip away in Mönchengladbach. Chances he would normally put away even in a bathrobe and shower shoes. “I’m angry at myself because I didn’t help the team”, admitted the striker. “It just cannot be that I scored in Stuttgart , then in two international matches and just afterwards let such chances slip away.”

Because Frei, admittedly, is the first to pose questions about himself, he’s been suffering like a dog since Gladbach. He admits: “It would have been a different match had I done the business when the team needed it. I did not and I have to answer for it.” Because, as the Swiss himself states, “one plays as he trained before the match.” And for him, goals are the best therapy.



Bert van Marwijk (54) is not unwilling to see a player who is “angry with himself”. The soccer trainer call this a “good sign.” Therefore, he didn’t stop the team from assigning guilt during the talks after the Gladbach match. “If the team is beginning to correct itself, then they are going in the right direction, said van Marwijk.

His uninspiring midfield, which seems to have problems with the new 4-4-2 system, hasn’t found it’s way down this path yet. “Quality is not our problem”, the 28 year-old Brazilian Tinga stresses. “We are simply missing harmony on the pitch.” And someone to accelerate the game. Steven Pienaar (24) has not yet found himself in that role. The leadership expects him to attack and push forward more. The South African has made it clear that he’s not satisfied with his own performance. “To this point, I’ve shown about 50 percent.” (Of his game) The rest should follow soon.

Good, thats what I like to hear from Frei! I am confident that Alex will score a goal tomorrow. He is so upset at himself at this moment that, if he gets a chance he wont miss it.... (he proved it before)

Afterall, what Frei is missing right now is a little luck. Mentally this guy is extremely good so I am not worried will score one goal for Dortmund specially at home!

I agree. I love his attitude about Gladbach. I love any player who will say "I sucked, but I will do better!"

I think he will score two goals tonight. I'll be happy if he works hard, just as I was happy with Smolarek last week.

Smolarek was the ONLY player working hard off the ball on offense!

Frei knows he sucked in Gladbach. No one has to tell him that. I LOVE IT!!

That's the kind of attitude we've been missing at BVB!!

We shall see what type of player Frei is and to some extent the rest of the team tonight. This will be a good test to see how they respond to the very uninspiring game over the past weekend.

It's only a punch in the face to people like you who overreact.

Enke is only getting first opportunity to be looked at. Nothing more, nothing less.

Before Euro 2008, not only do I expect Low to look at these three (Enke, Weidenfeller & Wiese) quite a bit, I also think he'll look at Markus Miller (KSC) and Michael Rensing (Bayern). I also think Hildebrand will be tossed out of the Germany setup between now and then too.

Calm down man. This thing is just beginning and Bierhoff already assured everyone that Weidenfeller and Wiese will get their chances.
