Choose your best 10 English strikers present - Not any strikers who have been around in the past or retired but based on those who are playing now and pick on abilitywise. I'll start:

    1. Rooney
    2. Crouch
    3. Owen Would move down as he is injured and won't be match fit for a long time but is our most natural goalscorer
    4. Defoe Would move down if not being played for club or up if he was being played and if he finds his club form again
    5. Bent
    6. Johnson Would move up if he continues to play well
    7. Ashton
    8. Beattie
    9. Vassell
    10. Harewood Would move up if he consistantly manages to score goals this season

I was tempted to put Zamora in it but I have mainly based mine on before the start of this season but if he continues to do well then I'd put him in there. I should of also put Fowler in - I can't decide on the last few places so I'll leave it like that but I would put in Fowler somewhere if he plays regularly for Liverpool and the last few I'd be tempted to change around. I've picked them based on pace, accuracy, power, fitness (if they get injured regularly or not) and creativity.

No arguments about who should be put where - just discuss your choices.

I would put Defoe ahead Crouch, the real difference is that Crouch was given real chance.

Harewood belongs nowhere near that list. He's an average striker who has had one good season.

A tad harsh. He 'clicked' in 01/02 and since then his record has been very good.

Surely, you forgot about Mikey Owen, because I list without him on it would be laughable to say the least..

Best when fit, but when will that ever be? He was one of the best, but he'll never be the same after the knee problems.

I've seen it in every sport, from American football, baseball, and basketball, when you have an injury like that you'll never be the same. Look up Bo Jackson for a classic example.

Bo Jackson had a freak hip injury, that forced him to get a hip replacement.. Big, Big difference there....Players come back from torn ACL's and MCL's all the time.. Owen will be back and be fine..Also, you put Ashton in on your list, he is injured.. So, by what you are saying, an injured Ashton is better than an injured Owen..

Broken ankle is way different from a torn ligament in your knee. Torn ligaments can never be the same.

Not really. Both have averaged a goal every three games throughout their career. Both had a few good seasons in the Championship before a good season in the top flight.

    Stewart

    Harewood

Look at Harewood's stats per season since 01/02. You are doing him a disservice.

Not really. Stewart was a fine goalscorer for the few years before he hit the top flight. How about Nathan Blake as a comparison? Always scored plenty in the Championship but never consistantly in the top flight.
If Harewood can reapeat his last season for another couple of years then I will take it all back, but as far as I can see he lacks the quality to be a regular performer at this level. His first touch is poor and he has no left foot whatsoever.

Adriano's first touch is poor and he has no right foot. He's also struggled in the top flight and has lost his place in the Brazilian squad... ;)

I just think you are being overly harsh but I suppose it's over to Marlon.

He needs to show he can do it again, and he's going to have a hard time doing it at West Ham - when Ashton comes back he's going to be 4th choice, 3rd at best.

He just strikes me as a typical Championship striker - big, quite quick and full of effort but with relatively little skill. He might be able to make it in the Premiership, but there is no way he is anywhere near international quality.

Johnson is better than Owen, he has more pace, scores more goals, and fights for every single ball. Everything Owen has Johnson has, and he isn't injury prone.
