Default Bruno Cheyrou

The superlatives are flowing about Bruno's performance against Lazio.

Incidentally he played in the middle of midfield, not on the left as some expected.

From a poster on lfconline:

Quote:
Cheyrou's all round display.....

His passing was sound, he was full of tricks, tracked back well, competed in the air and won the majority of headers he challenged for, all this and I haven't mentioned him leaving defenders standing as he went on mazy runs, and he was unlucky not to get proper connection or direction for his shots.

Their is something about him that reminds me of Zidane, (not the fact he's French), he just seemed so comfortable on the ball, he looks to be a great buy, but lets not build our hopes up too much just yet, encouraging start to his Liverpool career none the less...

Keep it up Bruno....
Sounds encouraging doesn't it?

Let's just hope he builds on his display against Lazio. It would be nice to have someone who could create in the center of the midfield if Stevie G. is out with injuries (as we all know may happen).

I agree. There is even talk of him starting in the middle with Gerrard (when fit) playing on the right.

So you could have a midfield of:

Riise - Cheyrou - Hamann - Gerrard

Pretty impressive if these reports about Cheyrou prove to be true when he plays in a league match.

I like this description from the Shankly Gates match report

"The French midfielder hit 15 goals for Lille last season and is tipped to become a full French international in the near future and on this evidence, it's not hard to see why.

Cheyrou was instrumental in everything that Liverpool did well as he ghosted across the midfield positions, helping out in both defence and attack. His passing was crisp and incisive, his ball skills were of a very high standard and spectators were also treated to a couple of long range shots, something they can expect to see often from him this coming season. "

I love the use of "ghosted" as he moved around to field. Reminded me of Reyna to some degree.

Yes, when Sunderland played at Anfield last season Reyna ghosted aound looking for the ball. Then when he couldn't find it he Kicked Stevie Gerrard in the groin and earned himself a red card....!

But thanks for the Shankey Gates quote..

Yea, Cheyrou never seemed to cope with the extra defensive pressure in England.

If you're going to keep bringing up old threads... I may have to dig up the one where i forecasted Carragher to become our other CB to Hyypia. Sadly, also in that thread, I defended Diao and Diouf to no end. :X

These "ghosts" do come back to haunt.

Mine was probably Nando....and probably my biggest disappointment.

He could have been a contender!!!
